Tava planejando desenhar alguma reflexão pro aniversário ontem mas aí o dia foi massa e tá bom demais de reflexão pra semana. Sometimes I spend days on a drawing, sometimes it takes a couple of hours. But that's if you bother on how clocks tell time. I have no idea where art starts and even less of where it is going to end up. Sure it can be some kind of personal expression, an exercise in meditation, a way of thinking, of facing the world or processing it. The part of it that matters to me, the one that's a direct conversation with the sacred, beauty and grace that we all are, I haven’t stumbled and, don’t want to, on a way of controlling it. I like to stay days struggling with a drawing because I like conversations and connections and that's a big part of what drawing is for me. But I also like that sometimes a painting passes by me because I fell in love with a song and it connected some dots so I paint it and it heals something inside. @ragnbonesman and @benjacksoncook rendition of this @therealdarrellscott song is a beautiful thing. ... I used to love when I was caught by a rainstorm back home. It wasn't as cold as the bone freezing drizzle of this island. It was a warm downpour that would leave you soaked in seconds. For someone who was usually so worried about what everyone else was thinking about me all the time, being soaked in the streets washed that fear away. There was nothing I could do, afterall, the rain was just too strong. "poor guy, laughing uncontrollably and giving up avoiding the deep puddles" When wet became a smell, I couldn't see beyond an arm's length and the voices in my head, telling me to behave, would shut up for a while life made a lot of sense I thought a place where it rains all the time would make me feel good, it was not the case necessarily. But then again, I had a more problematic rain to deal with, the one Karnak talks about in Juvenar. "It's cold, it's stormy, it's raining. Much sadder is the rain inside our hearts." And that one gives me a hard time but I'm keeping it at bay. It is only welcome if it's warm, invites a smile and the strength to ignore a reality that refuses to be kind. ... Watched 1928's The Passion of Joan of Arc today. Besides having the best faces in cinema history it got me thinking about evil. The movie has a perfect depiction of it, how it's full of certainty and contempt. How it believes in justifiable actions, how it has a clear project, how it florishes when paired with the illusion of power. How it holds our hands and writes our words if we let it. How it believes it is right. Maybe because the last couple of months have been particularly challenging the subject caught my attention. I like how Joan, frail, exhausted, resigned even, never seems weaker then anyone else. It was nice to see real strength in a movie, It used to be something I was constantly reminded of but now I have to find it by myself. Seen it today gave me a bit more hope. There's a little bit of a process thing for this on the stories and how the brush I used was inspired by a @heidschoetter drawing. The text is from a @zecapagodinho song. Acho que o que dava pra falar em inglês tá aí. No mais é tudo bem brasileiro, num tem como escrever em outra língua que num seja português. Esses dias tão interessantes e cheios de coisas, a cabeça tá cheia, o mundo tá mudando, a vida tá de cabeça pra baixo. Desenhei hoje pra fazer magia mesmo, pra me proteger, pra agradecer, pra tentar achar um eixo enquanto as coisas se desenrolam, e funcionou. Fiquei ouvindo o Zeca cantando a tarde toda e desenhando. Quero estar pronto pra quando eu for necessário, pronto e inteiro, com a vida bem guardada e com amor incondicional pra oferecer. Mas pra isso tem que ter proteção, então a gente vai cuidando das coisas uma de cada vez. Espero que todo mundo tenha uma boa semana. "Bate forte o tambor" Looks like I damaged my eardrum, and I keep hearing this constant noise and vibration on my ear, some days are worse then others, today was a very bad day. But as @emicida puts it "quem tem um amigo tem tudo, se o poço devorar ele busca no fundo" and I'm very lucky to have friends that helped me get out of the pit. Spent the night talking to @prenudos , @lipergomba , @gabriellmnascimento and @johnfeijaum and drew while we laughed our way through the evening, decided to not overthink the drawing and let it become whatever it wanted. So an astrological ox it is. As I write this the noise has weakened a little and I'll go to sleep expecting to hear from the ox on my dreams. So it can explain why it came to me.
