What Music Teaches
I saw a post recently that claimed (and reasonably so) that 90% of jobs can be taught. The intangible is an individual’s determination and willingness to learn. Some might argue that those intangibles can’t be taught, “you either have it or you don’t”, but this is where arts education becomes so powerful. Learning to be artistic and creative is what develops these intangible things like persistence and making incremental gains towards a larger goal. Taking music lessons is not about preparing to be a professional performer; it’s about discovery, expression, and LISTENING. Learning to make music teaches you: to be curious to express yourself to listen to others Sounds like a recipe for happiness, doesn’t it?
