Simon can bitch and moan all he likes that he doesn’t own their name because he will never truly understand that the name ‘One Direction’ is meaningless without those 5 boys. That the name ‘One Direction’ did not give meaning to those 5 boys, but that those 5 boys gave meaning to the name ‘One Direction’. And no matter what they choose to do or how far they go in their solo careers nobody can take ‘One Direction’ away from them, not solo fans, not antis, not Sony, not stuffy old white dudes with too much money and very little hair and sure as shit not Simon desperate-to-stay-relevant-while-not-having-his-face-melt-off-in-a-warm-breeze Cowell.
