L'Anthropologue Libertine

I have been hard at work taking this (not very helpful) online class about online teaching. We have to do a pretend lesson, so mine is about two core concepts in linguistic anthro taught via a discussion (and ultimately creation) of memes.  

Thanks to @kmtam who already HAD a whole meme lesson he shared with me!

So, I started my lesson making my own meme (top) -- and of course I had no idea who “woman yelling at cat” was, but I knew I liked cats, so I started there. Turns out, it is a very dark back story to the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member who is “woman yelling” -- BUT, also turns out that the supply of iterations of woman yelling at cat is near endless, so that’s where my day has gone. 

Last week was a little rough.

I called my fertility clinic to discuss #2. My longtime followers know that when Instaryed this project I underwent IVF with a known donor. We made two embryos which I froze. In the time it took to do that I met the Tall Man and put things on hold with the frozens. The time to go back to those two is now.

I switched clinics for my successful transfer and brought those two embryos as well as the pair that turned into 🦔. On the phone with the new clinic I learned that of the two remaining embryos I have, only one is good. The other, in there opinion, should never have been frozen.

My last clinic never told me this. I have spent five years believing I have two healthy embryos. I will say embryo grading is not a great science by any means, but this second one really isn’t where it should be. I was completely caught off guard. I assumed I had two chances. Now I have one. I feel as anxious and shitty as I did before baby. I’m right back to feeling filled with fear and like I’m a failure.

I am back on the fiction train!

Almost done this one which I have enjoyed. It was recommended by a friend and I intentionally don’t read about books before starting them. With this one, if it had been described to me I would have surely dismissed it. Very eager to see how it ends.
