“And yours is probably dead in an alley,” she says brightly, straightening his tie. “It’s what makes us good at our jobs. If you follow my lead, I can get us in, I can get us out, and you can handle the messy part in between. Okay?” She pats his cheek. “You’re pretty, lean into that. They’ll underestimate us if we’re pretty and vapid. No one really expects pretty ones to be smart. Or deadly.” She wraps an arm around his. “Ready?”

“We could get arrested for this.”

vasily rounds the corner, wearing said shirt, with a small grin on his face. ❝ and what shirt would that be, eugene?❞  admittedly, he’d grown fond of stealing eugene’s shirts, especially since they were so much bigger on him. it was nice. he should give back that jacket he stole from him a few days ago, but the smell of eugene’s cologne is still on it… so maybe in a few days. ❝ besides, it’s boyfriend privileges. i get to steal your clothes. it’s only fair, since i don’t have the height in this relationship. ❞  he stands up on his tippy toes, planting a small kiss on his cheek.

❝ HA! SO YOU ADMIT THE DEED! ❞ she chooses to take his words as a victory. she might have gotten distracted by his current soaked, shirt-clinging state, if not for him coming right at her. ❝ no, no, no! ❞ she yells and, to her surprise, laughs. laughs? …because yes, flynn is annoying and she’s still angry with him for spraying her, but this is kind of fun. though it’ll be more fun if she’s able to keep a hold of the hose! wendy grips it close to her chest and tries to keep a hold even as the slippery material makes it difficult. ❝ get off, you jerk! ❞

HER  EYES  LOOKED  UP  AT  HIM  FROM  THE  RAFTERS.    the  pair  found  an  agreement  above  the  rest,  and  her  eyes  rolled  at  his  vanity.      legs  crossed  under  her  as  she  looked  down  at  the  church  below.      SO  FAR  IT  WAS  SILENT,    BUT  KAZ  BELIEVED  THAT  A  CLANDESTINE  MEETING  MIGHT  HAPPEN.      (    more  dirty  merchants,  another  payday.    )        she  leaned  against  the  old  ghezen-adored  pillar.    thought  of  a  sarcastic  prayer  to  the  god  of  trade  crossed  her  mind  for  kaz,  but  it  was  quickly  shaken  off  by  his  word.  

❝    you  have  to  think  about  what  is  keeping  you  here,    ❞    she  admitted  as  she  unsheathed  a  smaller  dagger.    she  threw  it  up  and  caught  it,  just  to  keep  her  mind  off  of  dreaming  too  much.    THOUGHTS  OF  THE  SEA  SEEMED  CLOSED  TO  HIS  ISLAND.    she  wondered  if  they  would  ever  go  together.        ❝    do  you  want  to  make  a  list?    ❞

MAYBE TALKING ON THEIR LITTLE STAKEOUT WASN’T THE BEST IDEA. but flynn was almost positive that unless the dirty little merchants suddenly got a pastime of climbing the walls of churches, their chatter would be snuffed out before anyone could realize they were being watched. they had the advantage. nothing was going to happen in that church that they couldn’t see. he frowns at her words. some days he wonders what’s keeping him here. and then he remembers there aren’t many other places that take people like him. grisha. at least here in the dregs he had a messed up little family. and he excelled at keeping secrets.

“What tipped you off?” She’s still mildly drunk from the previous night; she’s going to hate herself on Tuesday when she has to be sober again for class, but that’s a problem for future her. As it is, she’s already put a dent into another bottle of whiskey. “It’s just… there’s so much shit to do, and I have to go back next weekend for all the shit I have to do in person, and I have to alert like eight million different places, all of which need their own copy of the death certificate, and I have to make arrangements and tell everyone when the funeral is, and then I have to deal with everyone telling me how sorry they are for me, how they’re there for me if I need anything, have to hear them talk about how great my parents were…” She pulls a face and tosses back a mouthful from the bottle. “And I have to go and play the grieving daughter, like I actually fucking care that they’re gone. I’m just mad they didn’t handle more of this when they were still alive.”

“…so just tell her that. lava cares a lot about what people think of her; if she knew you really didn’t like it, i think she’d stop.” there’s a little SNORT of laughter as the teen watches him pout, but lee quickly regains composure. “they’re like toddlers, y’know? lava and i didn’t get along great at first, either.”
