For months I thought about how I would propose to you. I tapped one of our closest friends for help and we started planning it months in advance not settling for anything less than perfect. When panning this, I thought about how the last quarter of the year is usually the hardest for you. I know your birthdays always feel anticlimactic and I wanted to remind you that it won't always be that way.

But then this year, you felt better than you have in years and you were so positive for the future despite not even imagining what I had planned. "Fuck it!" I thought let's keep the high going. I had a surprise birthday party with everything you loved in my back pocket and you didn't see it coming, making it that much more thrilling. The party included your favorite snacks, cake, and foods and people. I invited the closest people to us our age so that we could give you the house party vibe you love as an extrovert. I made it '80s themed because that's your favorite cultural era for various reasons but also because I know how you feel about the romance depicted in that era.
