“But I can’t stay, your mom doesn’t like me,” she countered. Grace was stopped completely when she felt her arm grabbed. “I just want my best friend back…yeah I’m fine,” she lied, voice still shaking. It rolled off her tongue and out of her mouth so easily because she’d had to say it so much in the past. But a slight shake of her head gave all that away.

Zig sighed and looked at the girl then away at his hands. “I really messed up this time. I messed around with Zoe on Maya and Maya found out…”

“Grace wait!” she called after the girl, “that’s it? You’re just leaving?”

Grace stopped when she heard Zoe call her name and turned to look at her. “Yeah, I just…” she trailed off as she heard the shakiness in her own voice.

“I think I know my mom well enough,” she sassed before sighing, “I’m sorry I just…this is a lot to process. Besides, haven’t I screwed up his life enough? Maybe this could be the start of a new Zoe, you know the one that doesn’t ruin other people’s lives for a living.”

“Yeah,” she nodded, trying to keep the shakiness she felt out of her voice but knew that she wouldn’t have too long before the thoughts flooded back more than she wanted them too. “He deserves to know, it’s his kid too. Look I have somewhere to be and I just stopped by to check on you. Good luck,” she said and turned to try and leave.

“I…I don’t know alright? I just found out yesterday…I haven’t even decided whether I should tell Zig, let alone my mom. Legally she has control of everything until I’m eighteen. If she disowns me, she could take all of it.”

“You’re mom might not react the way you think she will, at least you have options and you know,” she stated and backed up. “Look I’m sorry for pushing but just so you know Zig may be pissed at you if you don’t tell him especially if you keep it. Just don’t lead him on okay?”
