"I'm seeing things..."
It had taken a few days of bolstering himself, but Lars did finally make it down from his cozy mountain home. He was hoping that surely by now things should be fine, though with the way things were back then there was a slim chance that maybe not. When spoken to Lars was ready to quickly brush things off as he wasnât quite up to trying to speak to anyone, having only wanted to take one step at a time.Â
Once actually just seeing who it was, Larsâ original plans quickly took to another direction. âOld eyes can do that to you, you know.â
lost-in-letheâ:
He was still in shock.Â
Abelâs tongue was tied in knots, as was his stomach, as a feeling that he could not quite place came about him. It was heavy, cold and it created a pain in his chest he knew heâd felt before, yet, there was a slither of relief.Â
âI saw you die.â Abel said, breathless. He was sure he had. Or maybe? Maybe he had made it all up? Maybe-Â
Were these tears that fell down Abelâs cheeks? Oh, he hated to have such invulnerability crack and fade away; he was supposed to be strong. A warrior. Yet, he was breaking.Â
âYouâŚâ He reached out, clawed hands grasping at his brotherâs shoulders. He spoke no words, for he could not find them, nor bring himself to speak less he wished to have his voice give away more weakness. Instead, Abel pulled his brother close, hugging him tightly, as though he would fade at any second.
âLuckily it wasnât quite right out death. Was pretty close unfortunately.â Lars offered a slight smile, though with the tone of the situation there wasnât much strength behind it. âI got out, somehow. But I did it.â
Lars was quick to wrap his own arms around Abel in response. It felt like maybe they years apart hadnât happened being with him again, even though he knew full well that it still had. But that was over now. âYou know...I thought you were gone. When you didnât come back before they came.â
