Help a work exempt disabled trans couple get food that DSS refuses to help us with?
Update: We avoided the $500 fine (our lawn was good enough), but we still need food for the remainder of the month. Apparently the food we got only lasted two days. We have 12 days left in the month before Kylie's SSI comes in. DCAP and my disability lawyers are scrambling with what they can to get me on SSI/SSDI. I might go through a few more denials still. DSS refuses to up our food stamps because we're married, and they are going solely based on Kylie's income, even going so far as to tell me, a work exempt disabled person, to get a job, which I CANNOT DO.

Keep in mind, we do not have a car, and we're both unable to work due to physical and mental disabilities. We were both deemed exempt from work by both our PCPs and psychiatrists. We live solely off of Kylie's income (until I get disability). And we often have to walk to and from Target, which is already exhausting.

Gonna summarize things since it was a long read last time: Got a notice on our door to cut our weeds or else we'd (mainly the landlord) be fined $500. Of course, we know the landlord will tack that onto our rent, making it unaffordable. Got an extension cord for the lawn tools. The extension cord fell into the hedge trimmer. Need new extension cord to finish the weeds. Gonna get that with cash assistance (maybe), and we have to have the weeds done before the 21st. BUT we also need food. We only get $203 a month in SNAP, and we're out. DSS refuses to let it go up because we're married. All we have left, again, is the cash assistance, and 2 days to finish cutting the overgrown weeds in our yard. So, we need food, and we need that extension cord. And we only have enough for the extension cord with tax in cash assistance or just one meal.

But please help us get food? Maybe... building up to about $200 for the rest of the month? We might not need that much, but just an idea since the closest store we have is Target, and you know Target is expensive.

Basically, the previous living situation withheld our mail. We didn't get the notification for recertification for DSS, and our food stamps got shut off. Well... mine did. Kylie's was still on. But we're out. And I did reapply, but my eligibility interview isn't until the 19th. We won't make it until then without running out of food. They better not say I have to work in order to get food stamps, because I mentally and physically CAN'T. So, basically, we need money for food.
I don't know how much. It doesn't help that our bills are actively trying to screw us over, too.
Edit: And now we're -$69.04... Because our internet company decided to take out our phone bill. So we're REALLY in the hole now.
Urgent care helped, but we would still like to get some commissions in, so I can get back into the habit of doing them. I need to be prepared for when they are needed for things like food or something.

So, we got new clothes, which alleviates the need for laundry (someone donated to us). But we are a tad bit low on food, and we're not 100% sure when the next Mom's Meals delivery is. We maybe need, what, just a day or two of food? Kylie is getting her money early (probably Tuesday), so that can hold us over until the 1st, when my food stamps comes in. But we mainly just need food for the rest of today and tomorrow.
Once we get my computer started up, I can work on commissions faster.

After seeing that a few people were following me here (low-key wasn’t expecting that.), I decided to feed you guys some art based of the Queen of Hearts.
And yes, Ari is wearing makeup. I was thinking of doing where she can change her skin to make a certain theme, but I decided on the makeup part.
Living at the palace was a very interesting experience. All things considered, while all the snow made everything very bright, it was very quiet and peaceful… for the most part. Guy was becoming acquainted with the True Dragons. Cosmo was aiding in Rain's and Misery's work. And this one woman was… awfully close to Guy. It made Cosmo's stomach stir. Guy assured Cosmo many times that the woman was just a friend. Not that Cosmo cared. Who cares who Guy is friends with? He's a powerful Demon Lord. He can be friends with whoever he wants. Cosmo was just an underling.
So then… why did it hurt to always see that woman around? Why did he always dread her visits? Why was Cosmo so bothered?
“Who is that woman?” Cosmo asks Rain.
“That is Lady Velzard, the ice dragon. She's been here a lot. I'm surprised you didn't know.” Rain responds.
“Oh, I knew. I just didn't know her name. Is she… Master Guy's… you know…?” His voice quieted to the end.
“She's Master Guy's friend and partner. Nothing more.” Rain was a little suspicious but kept quiet.
“She does come around a lot more now that they both get along. But I doubt it's anything more than business matters that they discuss.” Misery added. “Does her presence bother you?”
“It's not that. I just thought the two of them were closer, given how she's always hanging onto his arm and how she's… always close to him…” Cosmo looks down. “She looks at him like…”
“Like how you do?” Rain inquires. Misery then picks up on it. They both lean in to look at Cosmo.
“No way…” They say in unison.
“Did I say something wrong…?” Cosmo asks, looking up at the both of them, confused.
“YOU'RE IN LOVE WITH MASTER GUY!” They both yell. Cosmo tried to shush them, but they both ran out of the room, towards where he was talking to Velzard. Cosmo gave chase to try and stop them.
“D-don't! Please!”
Too late. Guy was right there and heard his plea.
“Don't what? Why are you three acting weird?” Guy asks, crossing his arms. He was looking pointedly at Cosmo.
“It's noth-” Cosmo starts, only to be interrupted by the maids.
“Cosmo is in love with you, Master Guy!” Rain yells, Misery nodding in agreement.
“Is he really? Did he tell you that himself?” Velzard asks, inserting herself into the conversation. She, too, was staring at Cosmo.
“No, I didn’t… I swear… I'm sorry for interrupting you guys.” Cosmo said, softly, before turning to leave.
Guy gently grabs Cosmo by the hair to stop him. “Where do you think you're going, Cosmo? Clearly, you had something you didn't want to tell me.”
“It's nothing. Really.” He could tell Guy didn't believe him.
“Your subordinates sure are weird, Guy. Let's go somewhere else for more privacy. I have other things I want to discuss with you.” Velzard goes to lead Guy away, but he doesn't budge just yet.
“Rain, Misery… What is the meaning of this? If Cosmo didn't say it himself, then why are you putting words in his mouth? Clearly, he isn't in love with me. Besides, even if he was, I would want him to tell me himself.”
“Y-yes, Master.” They both respond.
“And you, Cosmo. I told you many times that you can talk to me about anything. I'm sorry they put you in a tough spot. I'll come see you later.” And with that, Guy turns to leave.
“You know, Guy… Isn't it taboo for a subordinate to fall for their master? You'd be better off with another powerful being.”
“I don't think it's taboo at all. But I wouldn't reject him for being a subordinate. If anything…” Guy felt a tug on his sleeve. He turned back to Cosmo. “Did you want something?”
“You're really arrogant and prideful, you know that? You're the strongest Demon Lord, no, the strongest being, and you're worried about what a lowly subordinate thinks about you?” Cosmo says, looking down. “Do you even know what it's like to work under someone strong and big-headed? Do you know how stressful it is to always see your leader always surrounded by other powerful beings?”
“Hold your tongue, Cosmo.” Misery hisses.
“You're going to anger Master Guy!” Rain adds.
“No, no. Let him keep going. I've been waiting to hear what he really thinks of me.” Guy crosses his arms. “Go on, Cosmo. Tell me all about it.”
“You really don't get it… You still just don't get it… You're so egotistical… You surround yourself with people like Miss Velzard to seem extra intimidating, and for what?” Cosmo was shaking.
“Listen, I'm not going to force you to stay here if you don't like me.”
“Guy, why are you wasting your time on this?” Velzard was growing impatient. “And you, Cosmo, was it? Why do you find it necessary to insult Guy? You've got a lot of guts to say all that.”
“Y-yeah. I do, don't I? But if I didn't say all of that, then Guy would assume everything was okay.”
“And it isn't?” Guy moves closer to Cosmo.
“No, it isn't! It's not fine! You still don't get it, do you?! It's hard to work under you because…” Cosmo paused.
“Because…?” Guy inches closer, raising an eyebrow.
“Because I am in love with you! I love how arrogant and prideful you are because it means you won't falter no matter what! I love how you actually care enough about your subordinates’ opinions of you because it means you value honesty! I love how strong you are! I love that you gave me a beautiful name! I love practically everything about you! You're a big idiot sometimes. You're very flirtatious. You're very dense sometimes, too. And yet… I love all of that about you.”
Guy starts laughing over Cosmo's outburst.
“Wow. That's your response?” Cosmo looked down.
“I'm not laughing at you, Cosmo. I'm laughing at the situation. I was so prepared for you to actually say you hated me. The criticism at the beginning really threw me in for a loop. I'm… really glad you were brave enough to say all of that to me. I'm sorry for egging you on, though. I figured you would've told me in your own time.” Guy caresses Cosmo's face. “Calling me arrogant to my face, huh? And prideful?”
“Cosmo, you really blew it big time.” Velzard says, snickering. Guy shoots her a glare before looking at Cosmo.
“You're definitely my favorite.” He then turns to go back to talking with Velzard, but then he pauses, glancing at Cosmo. “Well? Are you coming?”
“Wait, but don't you have important things to talk about?” Cosmo tilts his head. Rain and Misery sigh and push Cosmo towards Guy. “Alright, I'll go. I'll go.” Cosmo walks alongside Guy, and he audibly groans. “What?”
“Hold my arm already.” Guy says, nudging at Cosmo. Cosmo chuckles and holds onto Guy's arm, unknowingly being glared at by Velzard.
He remembered the first day he was dragged into the ice palace by two other demons. He was captured due to his unique aura, according to the ruler of the palace, a man named Guy Crimson. What an odd name. What was more odd was how massively menacing Guy's own aura was. It was like being in a lion's den. He remembered being asked what his name was. He didn't have a name. So, Guy decided to think of one. How hard could it be? He was told to hang tight until then. That was a few days ago.
Today, he sat in a nice field of red flowers, admiring them. The red reminded him of Guy. He thought to himself how kind Guy had been to him, despite being regarded as the most powerful being alive. Is this the side of him that Miss Rain and Miss Misery see of him all the time? They seem to enjoy working for him. Maybe one day, he could ask them how Guy came up with their names. Guy did mention naming those two before. Almost instantaneously. So… why was it so hard to come up with a name now?
He stared at the red flower in his hand. It was so beautiful. For someone who was a Demonoid Majin, he had no true desire for mindless violence. Just the beauty of the world. He'll fight if he has to, but otherwise, he'd rather admire nature.
“Why am I not surprised to find you here of all places?” A voice called from behind him. He turned around to see Guy walking through the field to get to him. “I would almost think that with the way you're staring at that flower, you're thinking of me, aren't you?”
“W-well… it does match your hair nicely, sir.”
“Please don't call me ‘sir’. You're only going to remind me of how old I am.” Guy sits next to him. “You could just call me Guy.”
“What about Master Guy, like your maids call you?”
Guy put a finger to his mouth. “Just Guy.”
“So, have you thought of anything yet?”
“Not yet. I would like to know more about you, if you don't mind.”
“There's not much to know about me. I like flowers, nature, and… well… I'm still trying to figure myself out. All my abilities allow me to do is mirror those before me in appearance, but nowhere near their power or abilities. I'm like a bud. I'm still too young to know much. I have yet to see much of the world.”
“I hope that the name I give you helps you blossom like these cosmos. Hmm… how about that for a name? Cosmo. That's what I've decided on.” Guy placed some flowers in his hand. “Well? Do you like it?”
“I love it. It's beautiful. Thank you so much.” Cosmo smiles at Guy, causing Guy to feel a pull in his chest.
“Wear your new name with pride. I'm expecting great things from you, Cosmo.”Guy then starts putting flowers in Cosmo's hair as they talk. When they return to the ice palace, Guy makes an announcement. “Everybody, this is my flower boy, Cosmo. Please be nice to him. He's still new.”
Rain and Misery both bow to Cosmo and Guy in respect.
