Cali food recommendations pt. 1: Bay Area
Hey guys!
Itβs been a while since my last post and Iβm really sorry for that. Reasons for that was a temporary account blocking because of misconceptions by the Tumblr staff and I also did a trip through California and barely had time to manage my blog.
Now Iβm back again and I have some restaurant recommendations I want to share with you if you plan a trip to California.
Letβs start with the Bay Area:
I have to admit that Iβve visited San Francisco far too less than expected to name you several restaurants. But thereβs especially one restaurant that sticks to my mind and you definitely should stop by if you want to experience a 50s diner atmosphere. Itβs called Loriβs Diner. The address is Ghirardelli Square, 900 North Point Street, San Francisco. They serve delicious burgers, sandwiches, pies, milk shakes and much more and itβs a really cool experience as a foreign. (Pictures following) At the port in SF you have many snack bars serving nice backed shrimps, calamari, clam chowder and of course french fries.
If you are staying in or visiting Palo Alto make sure you eat at Tofu house onΒ 4127 El Camino Real. I have eaten at this places 2 timesΒ because I liked it so much. I strongly recommend you the Stoneware Bibimbabs. Unfortunately I have not taken any pictures of my food but I ordered one time the pork and the other time the seafood bibimbab. They always serve side dishes in 5 bowls with glass noodles, sliced cucumbers, kimchi, bean sprouts and potatoes. The food is also very filling so definitely a hot tip if you have a big appetite.
When visiting Mountain View you definitely have to check out Castro Street. There are many bars and restaurants (also a cool nightclub named OPAL). My Airbnb-Host took me there to a restaurant called New Mongolian BBQΒ on 304 Castro St. They have a buffet where you can make up your own meal and then they are preparing it in front of you on a very big circled BBQ plate. The chefs are very fast and the food is cheap. They also have a soft ice machine which you can use how often you want. :P
Thereβs also another restaurant with a buffet in Mountain View onΒ 1991 W El Camino Real. Itβs the Passage to India. My host also took me there and they had a wide choice of appetizers, entrees and desserts. Unfortunately they havenβt had any Samosas at the buffet when I was there but the waiter told me that theyβre changing the buffet regularly so they donβt serve the same dishes every time.
Iβm sure there are many other good restaurants as well unfortunately I couldnβt try them all but may be next time :PΒ
The Bay Area is a really magic place! Youβll meet very diverse and multinational people building the world of tomorrow and helping each other. Itβs a very supportive community!Β
Enjoy your stay! ;)
