Say you break your ankle. You could know everything there is to know intellectually about the injury. Even with this vast knowledge, you will still experience physical pain.
Now take this logic and apply it to things like ADHD, autism, clinical depression, and other less visible/divergent disabilities. You cannot think your way out of feeling.
That is to say: you are not a bad, lazy, or selfish person for struggling, even if you know why you are struggling.
Genuinely, thank you so much for this.

"The America I loved still exists, if not in the White House or the Supreme Court or the Senate or the House of Representatives or the media. The America I love still exists at the front desks of our public libraries."

Yesterday I was at my local antique store and I was chatting with the owner, with whom I've been acquainted for nearly a decade because I love buying people's used junk and I'm always in there, and he revealed that he has a husband who loves Victorian furniture.
This didn't surprise me but I also like to think that I obviously read as some flavor of dyke and I immediately wondered why he had never mentioned his husband in conversation before. "Why today, after nine years of stopping by this store on my way home from work?" I thought. Then I got home and took off my wallet chain and noticed the new charm I added to it last week:
Don't underestimate the power of cheesy little rainbow trinkets in building community, I guess
The difference between "There used to be hot summers too,β and a climate crisis.
Look, we all know this is true. But there isn't a SOURCE for this, and the graph itself is basically illegible beyond "ooh colors". If we want to be good stewards of our informational resources, we need to cite our sources.
From a reverse image search, I found the website Show Your Stripes, run by the University of Reading in the UK, which is likely where the above graph originated. It provides temperature data for various regions of the world from approximately 1900-2025. For example, here are graphs for Canada, India, and Papua New Guinea:
All clearly show a sharp rise in temperature beginning around approximately the 1980s, which corresponds with the graph in OP's post. But now we know where this data came from, and we can verify its validity accordingly.

[image description: fanart for the locked tomb series of various characters as slightly anthropomorphized felines. in the first image, gideon, a huge muscular tiger, stands behind harrow, a black sphinx cat. both wear skull paint and look intimidating.
in the next image, jeannemary, a little tortoiseshell cat and isaac, a little tabby, climb on gideon's robe and pull off her sunglasses while she dozes.
in the last image, gideon and harrow look at something in a book that palamedes shows them, while camilla stands alongside him, sizing up gideon. palamedes and camilla are almost identical looking dark grey siamese cats. end description.]
two books into dungeon crawler carl, i think my favorite part of the whole video game schtick is how the whole inventory system essentially functions as a form of... what i can best describe as brute-force foreshadowing? whenever they go over their rewards from a big fight or something it feels i'm watching anton chekhov pull out a bunch of guns, hold them up to the camera, give a quick but comprehensive explanation of how each of them works, and then hang them up on the wall until you're left staring at chekhov's armory trying to guess which one's going to go off first only for carl to save the day with a random piece of rebar he innoculously picked up like fourteen chapters ago instead. it's taking the usual video game randomness of accumulating assorted loot and junk and then giving it purpose through the audience's understanding that this is a constructed narrative and that every single piece of loot and every single tooltip had to have been intentionally placed there by the author, while also using that understanding as a vehicle for misdirection by flooding the reader with so many obvious plot devices that the surprises are able to hide in plain sight.
DCC doodles ~β¨ (Because there are far too many things about this series I want to draw)
There's some later book mildly spoiler-y ones under the cut

DCC Carl is the Guyβ’ of all time. 6'3 ex-coastguard trained in hand-to-hand combat. Was 100% gonna fight Bea's rich lawyer dad for custody of her cat, Princess Donut. Religiously hits the gym 2-3 times a week. Is completely at ease saving the world in heart boxers and, when necessary, completely naked. Also embraces his luscious long hair. Has the uncanny ability to combine, bend, and break game rules to suit his needs. Despite his intelligence, still regularly falls back on "bomb the shit out of it" as a solution. Curses like a sailor. Says "I love you" with no hesitation. Has surrounded himself with competent, scary-ass women and when they go, "Carl you fucked up" his response is, "Yeah, I did. I'm sorry." Ultra daddy issues. Works hard to never become his father. The two times he prioritized ~sexy lady~ over survival he was literally charmed. A friend to everyone who has his and Donut's back, be they human, alien, sluggalo, goat, or sentient sex doll head.
Did murder a bunch of goblin babies though. And allegedly jerked off a crab.
Ah well. No guy's perfect!
microslop is currently feuding with some nerd and it's the funniest thing ever
basically, some guy called nightmare-eclipse has found several zero-day exploits in windows and at first contacted microsoft about it but they kept ignoring him (even though they have a bug bounty program, so technically they have to pay him a grant for finding these)
so then he started posting them publicly whenever he found any in hopes of microsoft finally fixing them that way, but of course that leaves windows users vulnerable, because now not-so-nice hackers can see exactly how they can use those exploits. He has found FOUR so far and microsoft did nothing about it.
microsoft then deleted the guy's gitlab account and sued him, after which he said they should mark july 14th in their calender because he is done playing nice and is going to "shatter their bones"
Itβs been ages since I posted art on here.
Husband and I have been super into DCC lately and I was frustrated with the lack of non ai-generated Princess Donut stickers.

sibling and I stumbled onto the subject of foot fetishes and they were like "It's just soooo weird, I don't get it at all. it must be really niche" and I was like. dude. I know someone whose honest-to-god fantasy is to fuck a spider, and tbh this seems pretty reasonable to me. don't go online
