There was not an art shortage in the 2010s. There wasn't a music shortage, a book shortage, or a mass inability for people to write basic emails either. Search engines worked and were fast, special effects in movies were so good they solved the Dyatlov Pass Mystery.
GenAI produces the same things that already existed, worse, and at a higher cost.
As a species, that's stupid. Deeply, fucking stupid.
We're burning more resources for a worse outcome.
But that 'as a species' is the crux, right? People who use LLMs and LIMs don't think like that. They aren't thinking about others, or about humanity as a whole... they're only thinking about what's in it for them.
Eg, "I hate drawing, I'm too lazy to learn, but I've always wanted money and praise and to be called an artist, so I don't care that this is exploiting others and nuking the environment, I'm going to use it."
It doesn't even matter that it doesn't work (slop doesn't sell). All that matters is the AI users think there is a way to get a tiny bit of clout and capital for nothing. That's all it takes for them to fuck over humanity.
The thing I hate most about AI is how clearly it's shone a light on the selfishness of some people around me.

There's so many more we'd like to mention because all these authors are such inspirations and have amazing talent. The community is seriously thriving, so we'd love to reconnect with the community and support them!
Hey gang, how are you doing? I've been looking around for new IFs to read and Zinnia's ( @night-market-if ) discussion about how the IF community seems to have shrunken gave me the idea to drop here a bunch I've really liked (picture me making thumbs up at these authors):
Soulmates Inc. by @soulmatesinc-if You're a soul-link, some kind of modern cupid who is also an office worker with the task of making soulmates run into one another. You're also one of the best at what you do. Everything is fine and dandy until someone sabotages your powers making your last assignment impossible to complete. Now you have to work along a delightful cast of characters to find out how to finish your task⊠or if you even should.
Season of Shadows by Kwartel. Such a fun game about being a young noble in the Regency era who must get married in order to save their family from financial ruin/rub it in their ex-bethrothed's nose after being jilted by them. There isn't an option to be nonbinary from the start, but for what I've seen, you'll have the chance to present more masculine/feminine at a later date. Lots of ROs that respond differently depending on the MCs sex and presentation. Also, the author knows so much about the Regency era which I appreciate since I know nothing about it.
Burning Academia by @burning-academia-if Oh man, talking about a traumatized MC with a terrible family life. You're part of the prole (which is always a plus in my book) you have no money and not a chance to get into university, until you're attacked by something not from this world while visiting an acquaintance at his private college. Now you must attend this university in order to keep whatever that was away from you (and for them to keep an eye on you just in case you're secretly an evil wizard). Also, magic is real and nobody will let you acclimatize to this new earth-shattering revelation. Oh, and you're carrying an extra passenger in your head now. Have fun!
I also recommend checking out the notes in this post.
Hello, you incredibly talented human being! As someone hoping to traditionally publish (failed at my most recent querying attempt for literary agents, but getting back on the horse to try again soon) and publish IF (I plan to start during revisions of the next book I plan to query), how in the world do you balance both so well? You released a (wonderful!) book with Bindery and *consistently* update your (wonderful!) IF. I'm hoping to do the same (with maybe a sprinkle of extra content on Patreon after some several IF chapters are up maybe?). How do you manage it and manage it with such high quality for both?
I don't manage it! I don't manage it at all. I haven't updated the Thicker Than demo in months because I've been overwhelmed with other things. Also, the writing I release isn't always high quality. Hell, I was rereading/editing Thicker Than recently and there was a bit where Marcel fully just said the same thing twice.
It wasn't hot. Unless you think parrots are hot, specifically because they repeat things senselessly. In which case, maybe you'd have found it hot.
But, parrots aside, the truth is, I'm not actually really good at balancing anything. I'm an all or nothing kinda human, and that makes this gig of being a writer a little tough sometimes, especially straddling this world between traditional publishing and interactive fiction.
I think the only advice I can give is to keep yourself well fed, well hydrated, and well rested. Oh, and don't read the rejection emails (they come like snowflakes when you're in the query trenches, so the thing to do is just catch them on your tongue (aka, highlight them) and feel them dissolve away into nothingness(aka, delete them)).
Looking after yourself is the most important thing.
Also, having fun. I think sometimes people get caught up trying to chase 'the dream' that they forget why they're doing it. Remember, writing is fun. If you're ever not having fun, take a break, step back, and breathe.
This is all super basic advice, but it's the advice I keep giving to other writers whenever they ask me because it's the sort of thing that needs to be said. Being safe, happy, and having fun is the most important thing.

To clarified the poll further. Instead using a relationship percentage bar to track your relationships, you'll get a label for what your relationship is with each RO based on platonic, romantic, sexual, and likability stats.
Like maybe despite being forward with J; you don't do your job right. It will cause J to view you as a problem employee or rather a flirty slacker. Similar to how J views C when they're not doing their media campaigns.
The other thing I've mention before is that you can go for the friendship ending. Basically unveiling different colors based on who's platonic relationship you've maxed out on.
I've been thinking of how exactly that would come off in the plot. Because I'm leaning on two sides of the spectrum.
Either a massive freakout or internal screaming from suddenly seeing yellow, for example, in a pool of grey. I believe anybody would initially put off by seeing a splash of color they've only seen once before and nothing else. Like the bouts of confusions and existentialisms would be pretty high since it's not a well known or documented phenomenon in universe. The questions that spring forth about their potential soulmate would mount as maybe MC did found them in Paris and didn't know. Or if this was a consequence of a broken bond since that's has been known to happened.
Or maybe the brain treats as simply a light grey or white to protect MC from the onslaught of questions. Like you're talking casually with one of the ROs and mention blue, for example, of a painting and now they're freaking out. The RO now questioning if they're your soulmate or you've met your soulmate without telling them. And the further confusion that results from seeing that you only recognize one color instead of the entire rainbow. Which could lead to a interesting conservation if the RO in question is associated with that color.
Just more thoughts as I write this.
Probably post another poll since both ideas seem like if would fun just for the reactions from the characters.
Something I've been thinking in regards to writing down the actual environment and visual in the game.
So everything is supposed to be monochrome due to the MC not solidifying their soulmate bond. Which is one of the kick offs that sparks MC's travels.
The initial draft had MC memorized some of the colors they saw that day in New York and basically work backwards to figure out what certain shades of grey, black, and white would correlate to certain colors.
Basically it was supposed one of their special skills that got them noticed in the art gallery since majority of the unbonded don't put that much effort in cataloging colors until they see their soulmate.
Which would make it easier to write instead of constantly writing what shade of grey something is and guessing the actual color.
But it seems like a cope out. Like this world built in monochrome. It should told through that foundation. But at the same time, they're bonded people who can see clearly. Who tried to rewired their brain through their monochrome memories and go "ahh, that's that the color is".
I'm down to three options.
Stick with the original plan of the MC mentally recalling colors from their first meeting with their soulmate
Duel perspective where the prose shows a color in parathesis next to a shade from the grey scale. Showing how the MC classify a color in their mind in comparison to other characters' POV
Stick strictly with grey scale and slowly reveal colors based on observations from other characters. Maybe a few funny scenes where you're told two different colors for the same thing and try to figure out what it truly is

I think a lot of authors have noticed this lately: Likes, comments, reblogs with reviews... everything seems to be getting quieter. Stories go on, chapters come out, but all too often, it's a great silent nothingness that greets them.
Are we at fault, or is it something else? Yet you're there, we can see you raising the view counters on our demos.
I'm not here to lecture or beg for anything. I'd just like to understand, as many other authors do, why ? Because this statement is the result of a growing concern? Depression?among our ranks. To the degree that some of us have come to say: What's the point?
I'd just like to remind you of one thing: a story is alive, yes, but ! It's alive thanks to you, not just to us.
Every word you read, every emotion you feel, every theory you silently formulate: it's all part of the magic of a story, and it needs to be shared. When you share it all, a comment, a reblog with a fews words, even a brief reaction, that's when it really comes together, you're blowing on the story's flame! You fuel it, make it tangible. You give it a life that an author, alone in front of their screen, can't always sustain over time. Believe me, we try... Some are more gifted than others, but I'm all for helping each other.
Because yes, we write out of passion, out of desire, out of need. Yes, we love our worlds. But the impetus, the joy, the motivation, the feeling of really being read, all that is also born from exchange.
So here it is, just a quick note to say that if you like or don't like something, please say so. No need for a big dissertation but there's nothing worse than silence, it's the great reaper of our aspirations and I don't want to let it win.
Ever since I started the TKH blog, my follower count has been steadily rising. I am at almost 7k followers (oh my fucking god) and yet, at every update, sparse as they are, the amount of interaction I get is less and less.
This is not to say that TKH is not being a success, because it is. But if you dive deeper, most of the notes I receive on posts are likes, rarely reblogs and very rarely comments. I admit that, after almost two years of work, seeing the ch.2 update be followed by way less asks than the others has a bit demoralised me. Every time someone shares their experience playing, their MC, their theories and thoughts on my characters and story, it is an immense boost to motivation, but also a needed aknowledgement of all the work I did, and all the frustration I went through.
I am not asking for money, I probably never will, but when I prompted some time ago readers to share their MCs and I only got a couple of asks it was... sad. Because two or three years ago I would have gotten at least ten or twenty.
My discord server, once full of life, delicious ramblings and fanfictions, is now silent even after big game updates.
And as I have started to noticed this progressive passiveness of readers, I have begun seeing the same in all other IF blogs too, but also fanfictions, books and other media.
Unfortunately, most of us authors thrive with aknowledgement. With praise and attention. I think, but this is just my personal opinion, that it's a fair bargain in exchange for the content we release into the world free of charge.
And I know most people are not silent out of disinterest, but rather because they are busy, stressed, or shy. But please, please, understand feedback is what we neeed to keep writing. Every little comment makes a difference, I swear.
Q = Quickie (Their opinions on quickies, how often, etc.)
M
Hard no for M. They donât want to seem needy or clingy but they prefer the slow and intimate part of intercourse. Mapping out each other's bodies with hands and lips and drawing out the moment as long as possible. They might be persuaded to perform a quickie though but that depends on the right circumstances and Mâs mood.Â
L
L could be pulled into doing a quickie but they will get greedy and spend even more time with you if they get too excited. But at the same time, they get aroused with how their touches could shift from being innocent to sensual with you. The morning session before work or the little moments after dinner is mainly when this happens.
B
B is still exploring their newfound sexuality with you, and theyâre a bit timid to ask you. They even get scared with how hungry B wants you and decides to repress it deep down so they donât make you uncomfortable. You have to coax them to reveal their desires to you, that it's okay to want something without feeling guilty.
J
J is the epitome of quickies. Sure, they keep it professional around their employees and investors, but there is a special feeling in ravaging you when the need arises. Mainly in regards to bringing you to the brink and sending you on your way, watching you hide what had happened with only J being in on the secret.
V
The most firmest no in the history of intercourse. Itâs hard enough for V to lay themselves bare, so simply letting you have your way at the drop of a hat would make their skin crawl with disgust. Not towards you specifically though. Itâs simply they need to extend the offer out, to mentally prepare themselves for being vulnerable around you.
C
C is willing to do the deed at any time. Theyâre comfortable in their own skin and prowess. Honestly, quickies is mainly what theyâre used to before they got together with you. It is mainly close intimacy that they struggle with since they have deep seated commitment issues. Also, they get a kick out of having one during breaks at work with you.Â
Avery
Quickies are a frequent occurrence when they start dating you. They try to remain the proper elite their parents raised them as but they can't help how much their body longs to connect with yours. Itâs strange how much they want you to depend on them for your pleasure but they can never achieve such euphoric heights without you.Â
Kahula
Kahula wouldnât mind the occasional quickie but they want to take their time with you. It had been years before they found you again and they wanted to memorize everything they werenât able to that night. They may snatch a few before or after their concerts, but they truly remember the long and sensual night in their hotel room the most.
