From Star vs. the Forces of Evil - Fortune Cookies. Before I started scoring this episode, Daron gave me some idea of where Toffee’s story is heading and wanted me to create a theme that could evolve as we learn more about him – something slinky and elusive, with evil underneath. I’ll post that whole sketch once the season is over.

For the first time we meet Toffee, I played the theme very slowly and spaced out. We don’t know who Toffee is yet, and we wanted to tease out some mystery.

Hey Star vs. the Forces of Evil fans. How are you surviving the hiatus? You good? Good.

Here’s the first sketch I did of Toffee’s theme, back before he was introduced in Fortune Cookies. I wrote it before I scored the episode, based on some description from Daron. Turns out I wrote something that was way more EVIL than it needed to be (mostly at the end, where sounds like it should underscore a maniacal laugh, which isn’t really Toffee’s thing), so the iterations you hear on TV are more cerebral/sneaky than anything else. But the melody is the same.

From Star vs. the Forces of Evil - The Battle for Mewni (Moon the Undaunted).

FINALLY Moon’s backstory. Toffee’s big entrance in his functionally useless but super sexy mesh top. And Moon diving into some dark magic, with Eclipsa’s help, thus making a deal that may come back to bite her decades later.

Costars…. Acting… it was all a performance man he can’t be dead 😭
