“Ah, the downfall of the werewolf,” he sighed woefully. "If only it were. Or if only they could change whenever they pleased. Then we’d have quite the Halloween.”

“I’ve heard the transformation is super painful, though. Like...I dunno, it’s kinda shitty to wish that upon someone.”

“Do you have them for Ancient Runes? I honestly don’t know what came over me, but Professor Hall’s voice just…put me right to sleep.” 

“Um...” Donny bit his lip. “I fell asleep, too.”

The rain wasn’t uncommon for Scotland, but still, Donny loved it. The way the air smelled, the way the raindrops gathered on the leaves...everything. The minute Donny woke up, he could tell it was raining by the musty smell the old castle oozed from the walls. He got out of his bed and quickly dressed, pulling on a pair of bright pink rainboots. He slipped a rain jacket over his head, and tied his hair back in a rubber band. And then he was out.

Donny made his way past the Dining Hall, past the students who were huddled inside to avoid the rain, and outside. It had already been raining for the last few days, which meant that the puddles would be perfect. Splash! Donny stomped his foot into the puddle, a smile crossing his face. He continued to walk down the path towards the lake, being careful to step in every single puddle he could find, a childish grin a constant. 

When he arrived at the lake, he pointed his wand towards the sky, and with a small wave, a small snow flurry began to fall around him. It melted as soon as it reached the ground, but Donny was still proud of his ability to cast that spell nonverbally. It was one of two spells that Donny had perfected. (The other being a charm he actually came up with himself to fully charge his phone in an instant).

“Well keep using it.” Olivia smiled, “it’s working for you.”

“Thanks!” Donny said with a smile. He didn’t know what else to say, really. He had always been intimidated by Olivia, and he knew the awkward silence that was about to happen would not help that.

Lily nodded, smiling, “I don’t think you’re bad, but we’re our own worst critic. Do what you feel you have to.” She nodded again and stood up. “Definitely. It’s not even curfew quite yet, so we’re fine to just head out freely.” She walked away from the couch as she spoke and exited their common room, waiting for him before she started towards the kitchens.

“I’m not as good as I want to be.” Donny corrected, shrugging. He stood up and followed Lily from the common room, walking in step with her. “I’m so glad I got sorted into Hufflepuff. I don’t think I could deal with being so far away from the kitchens.” He mentioned as the two walked. “That’s probably why I got sorted, those good ole Hufflepuff stereotypes.”

Olivia laughed, “Ok, that one was really funny. Puns are always the greatest.”

"Thanks, I read it in some muggle magazine when I was a kid.” Donny did a little bow.

“Right? Isn’t it hilarious? I read it in this joke book and I’ve been laughing about it all day. Heard any good jokes lately?”

“A friend kept annoying me with bird puns, then I realized toucan play at that game.”

“Okay,” Rose said smiling and walked away from the boy as he started counting. “Perfect,” She whispered to herself as she found a bookcase to hide behind and waited for him to start looking.

“TWENTY-SEVEN, TWENTY-EIGHT, TWENTY-NINE, THIRTY. Ready or not here I come.” Donny shouted, starting to look around to find Lily. It took him a good five minutes before he spotted her bright red hair behind the bookcase. “Lumos.” He said, lighting up the space behind it. “I found you.”
