Since I suspended that ice in resin a month or two ago, I’ve been thinking about how I can make an all resin snow globe type piece. This is my first attempt. I used a couple of cylinder silicone molds to create a cavity and the same size mold to pour a cap. The seam isn’t perfect but I consider this first attempt a success. Thicker snow and a less bubbly solution inside should get this where I want, I’ll also use some 3D printing to nicen the final look up. A promising first try. Repurposed an old small 3 drawer dresser I had in storage that was missing a handle. Whipped up a quick replacement in #shapr3d and now it has 3 much nicer handles. So I’m preparing to close up some seams on this 1/35 Hasegawa Gustav for @super.mecha.style ‘s buildoff, I went to look at the rules and due date, and realize this isn’t a 1/35 buildoff, it’s a Gacha buildoff, and I have selected a kit that cannot be entered. @super.mecha.style was kind enough to not correct me, but let’s follow the rules and actually do a gacha. So I switched to the Heinrich and raccoon from the Vol 2 set, even though I still may switch the raccoon for a raptor from Vol 3, simply because I’m running out of Vol2 capsule kits and have a bunch of Vol3 still. The raccoon fits my vision better, but it’s not exactly easy to get more of them so I’ve gotta think this through. I never really caught on with the fidget spinner craze, they were cool, I guess, but they never really stick with me. But I randomly printed this little Kobayashi fidget cube from user markinthebox on Thingiverse, and I find myself manipulating this thing for seriously half hours at a time while I watch tv or am deep in though or really whenever. It’s really an interesting mindless little fidget thing that is absolutely satisfying and hasn’t gotten old in the week I’ve been playing with them. And of course I printed in a bunch of different sizes and types of pla, its a simple one piece print that prints relatively quickly. Cool little find from a random thingiverse browsing session.
