Unhinged TMA X WTNV Crossover Meeting
(please don't expect this to be good, I fear how tumblr may grill me with this)
Cecil tapped the mic twice before beginning the recording, his little ritual every morning when he began his radio broadcast. He adjusted his vest before beginning to speak.
"There is a thin, semantic line separating weird and beautiful. And that line is covered in jellyfish. Welcome to Night Vale," He murmured into the microphone.
"The PTA will be having another meeting this week, headed by Susan Willman. This week's topic? The gymnasium," Cecil flipped through his notepad for what was next.
When he'd paused, Cecil glanced up to notice a yellow door in his recording booth. That was odd. He didn't remember a door there.
"... Dear listeners, I have discovered something quite odd. There is a new door within my booth. It is similar to the door of Station Management, but I am fairly certain it is not the same door, as Station Management has not been a resident of my recording booth."
Should I approach it? Cecil thought, Would Carlos approach it? Oh, sweet Carlos... Stop it, Cecil! Door first. Pining later. Cecil shook his head sharply to right his thoughts before grabbing his microphone.
"Dear listeners, I am going to approach and attempt to open the door," Cecil started, setting the microphone down on a closer table as he approached the door. He pulled Carlos' labcoat around his shoulders to protect himself before taking a deep breath.
His hands wrapped around the doorknob, and it felt far too big. Cecil slowly turned the knob, and he was met with a surprising sight.
"... Oh, hello. Dear listeners, I believe we may have a new resident to Night Vale," Cecil sounded curious, though cautious. He slowly paced in front of the door like he was trying to seem intimidating, his shoulders hunched a bit to make himself look bigger. It didn't work. It was like a kitten trying to be scary while its mother humored it for the sake of its growth.
Michael tilted its head confusedly, too far for normality. Its hand rested on the doorframe, leaning on it a little as it looked down at Cecil in surprise. "... I beg your pardon?" It asked, sounding puzzled.
"Are you not a new resident? I apologize, I simply mustn't have met you before," Cecil sounded like he didn't even convince himself with the 'lack of meeting' excuse: Cecil knew of everyone who lived in Night Vale. Everyone.
"... Erm. No. I'm not a resident of Night Vale." Michael managed to sound almost normal: it was so perplexed that this was happening, it couldn't focus on its usual antics (a'la threatening murder whilst looking like a human psychedelic).
"Oh, well... In that case," Cecil paused, dramatically pulling off the labcoat and tossing it toward his desk, where it landed neatly in his chair, folded perfectly, "I, and my dear listeners, should give you a warm Night Vale welcome." Cecil smiled brightly, shaking Michael's hand with a surprising amount of enthusiasm.
"I'm Cecil, host of Night Vale Community Radio," Cecil introduced himself, completely unphased by the feeling of Michael's all too large and too many-fingered hand.
"... I, er... I'm Michael. The Distortion," Michael returned the introduction, awkward in the face of this completely strange greeting it would usually never get.
"Oh, the Distortion! Oh, I've heard many-a-thing about you," Cecil said cheerfully. He turned toward his microphone with a smile.
"Apologies for the delay, dear listeners, but I do believe I have a very special guest to show around town!" Cecil chirped before pulling Michael out of the booth with exactly zero regard for the fact that the recording was, in fact, still running.
