for those of you who remember cgtextures circa 2008, texture.ninja has a large repository of public domain textures without annoying hoops to jump through.
Reblogging this for myself... I'll never use it but I like having fun things...
Sun speckled is such a lovely thing to be. To be dappled by the sun. It feels like being a kid and running in the trees (breaking all the outdoor rules).
There was a guy blasting EDM music at the local lake. Nobody else was there, maybe the ducks, but I only saw seagulls in the distance.
I think they may have been frightened off by the EDM music. This was my first walk in a while (I also pet a dog) and I am ashamed to say I was also frightened off by the EDM music.
I came back here because I wanted to yell. I started reading Nomadland and intend to watch the movie as well. I think it's quite neat how they're talking about this generation that I know so little of yet interact so much with. I really like seeing them make these big decisions with their lives, addressing them knowing that it may have been the worst decision ever and just.. living with it.
I've felt like life was a series of goalposts for a while now -- you just need to get through high school! wait! there's a sequel called university and your family will judge you severely for not going into debt for a degree! (At least mine did.) Oh there's a next part where you try to get a job with the biggest number possible! ...and I just hate it. I feel so overwhelmed and it's all mental. It's like being tangled up in a bunch of yarn that various people have just tossed at you.
This book, or what I've read so far is such a breath of fresh air. It's slow, it's mundane, it makes me feel like I'm not alone in gambling my life away with decisions I'm too young to make. It feels like waiting on the couch while your parents cook dinner, stomach grumbling but knowing that your name will be called any minute now.
It makes all of my issues feel so small against the simplest routines. Like waking up and pulling the window curtains in the morning, or that despite all of the hardships and inconveniences I might find a way to love my life. Maybe it is about waking up and having a shower. Maybe I would like to talk to my neighbors and find out what their life growing up was like.
This was a bit of a mess but like I don't really care THAT much. Only a little bit.

people vaguely saying 'the horrors' as shorthand for 'life problems, don't worry about it' in conversations where the problems are not going to be delved into has got to be one of my favorite new Ways Of Speaking that has emerged. like it's polite and vague and succinct enough for impersonal conversation but also extremely honest. it's very funny. The Horrors. we all know of them.
guy who is definitely not about to fall into a surprise midday nap with an aftermath worse than a hangover: it seems like a really good idea to lay in bed and get cozy under the blanket as part of my plan not to fall asleep. I do not know why.
you never know what someone is going through. for instance i didnt know i was going through anything until about 2 years later. i thought i was just chilling

overwhelmed with the thought of having to adult and being accountable for all of my own actions
most problems will go away if you ignore them. of course they'll resurface with greater intensity, so you have to ratchet up your ignorance every time. luckily this can go on forever, until you die in some strange- assuredly unrelated- way

oh this is beautiful. it reminds me of when my relatives would come over and play mahjong, drinking tea and chatting. back when my dad was still alright, angry, but alright.
the world has given me so much, but has also taken so much more. and i dont know where i can go or what to do with all of these memories
