Doe Re Mi

Sirius laughed and shrugged. He couldn’t argue with that. His mind bounced from one subject to the next quickly, and if they were talking about something he had no interest in- say, a class he might not be doing too well in, well, he wasn’t going to talk about it for so long. He shrugged again. “I just haven’t gone swimming yet, and it’s already past the first Hogsmede. Plus, me, James, Remus, and Pete haven’t done anything big yet. I have to do something besides classes or I’ll explode.”

Doe could understand Sirius being itchy. She had felt like this year she’d seen less of the “Marauders” Capers she was used to. In a way it was nice. She had always felt bad for Snape and how they went after him, though she’d never been around to see it except the one time and as she’d gone up to help... well she hadn’t made it far and it hadn’t ended well for her. “That’s a crime everyone should go swimming! It’s amazing in the black lake.” She agreed. “I’m sure you lot will think of something but I’d love to go swimming. I can meet you at the black lake in twenty minutes? We can go change. Oh! I can ask the house elves for some snacks on the way out!” She offered brightly

Lucius kissed back, quite enthused with his accomplishment. His lips trailed after hers, almost sad that she had pulled away so quickly. “A bit rushed, I’d say, but I’ll drop since you were so kind to share your lips with me.” He sighed once more, using a single hand to push his hair out of his face. “Honestly, if he’s going to do something so daft, I say he do it when there’s a little win in it for the victim. It’d make him face less student hate and wrath. Not that I imagine he cares about such a thing.” Lucius tapped his finger to his chin. “I suppose…but I have this gut feeling that he doesn’t care for anyone’s company nor their love. And I don’t rightly know how to take his joy away.”

Doe was surprised when Lucius responded. She had been sure he would pull away or something equally surprised when she did as he asked but he didn’t. That was a shock. “Thank you.” she said amused at his antics. “Any more than that might be a bit of a harder sell Mr Malfoy.” She teased a bit. “You’ll have to try a touch harder even with your luscious locks. “ she joked a bit. It was fun and flirty but really nothing too serious. She had fun with Lucius. “I agree. He should be more careful of his timing. At least try to make them even and more funny. I find his current strain isn’t funny so much as annoying and even bordering on mean sometimes.” She huffed. “Perhaps not but that’s such an odd thought to me. I mean who doesn’t want to be loved in some way or another?” She asked. Maybe she was overly romantic but that was how she felt.

“Good to know I’m not the only one. I feel like we’re all getting a little too swept up in all the Miss Echo mania.” Out of all the students in the school he thought Doe was the most similar to him. Optimistic and with a good head on her shoulders. “A little bit. I mean…I’m not bad. I still get passing marks. But I don’t want to just pass. I want to do well, you know? And I’d love some help.” Ted chewed on his inner cheek. Sometimes it just felt like the professors went too fast and that he was always needing just an extra hour more than everyone else. “You’re a winner, Doe!”

Doe nodded smiling. “I agree. I mean it’s interesting and a puzzle I guess but I think it just isn’t worth what we are putting in? I mean sure it’s interesting and new and maybe it’s something but for all we know its nothing. I know a few people aren’t into it but enough are making it into a thing.” She sighed thoughtfully. “I totally get that. You wanna go out strong. It’s our last two years it’d be good to make them count. “she agreed. “Great! We can work together anytime. You know where to find me.” She joked. “Aww Thanks Ted. You the best!”

Nodding in agreement, Pandora relaxed as Ozzy began to cool off himself. She could tell by the way he purred that he MOST LIKELY wasn’t going to try an cause any trouble. “ Ozzy is the best for cuddles. The catch is he hardly ever will. He’s either got be looped up on catnip or in one of his moods to ever let me get that close to him. ” Her smile widened. “ Yeah, you must be in my charms class or something. I’m always half-asleep in that class, so its a wonder I could remember anyone’s name form there. ”

Dora watched as the cat’s ears twitched, putting on a little SHOW as her rolled and purred around at the other girl’s feet. “ Oh it’s no problem. If anything, I should be thanking you for helping me calm him down. ”

Doe nodded “Yeah I’ve seen a lot of cats like that. They’re picky about when they want attention.” She agreed smiling. “But I’m glad he’s good to you.” She smiled encouragingly. “I bet he’d be hilarious on catnip.” she said imagining it and laughing. Cats were always cute when they were zoned out like that. “Probably. If you ever need help with it I’m not terrible with charms. Just don’t ask me History of Magic.” She giggled. “I’m the worst at that one.”

Doe happily played with the Kitty careful not to upset him as he rolled. “No problem. He’s a sweetie and I’m more than happy to help. What got him so worked up? Peeves running around again?”

“Oh snakes!!!” Narcissa did love food it was a little known fact about her . “Good and you?” Narcissa was debating weather or not to tell doe her dilemma . The blonde found it was easier to have friend in secret then it was none secret. “If i tell you something will you promise not to laugh at me or to tell anybody about it” Narcissa usually never told her friends anything so in the end they couldn’t stab her in the back or hold anything over her. 

Doe nodded popping a small piece of the snacks in her mouth. “Yep! It’s a requirement for any good hangout time.” She said matter of factly but the smile on her face assured she was joking. “I’m not doing too bad. Classes are kicking my but a bit. I forgot how much I hated homework.” She sighed smiling. “I promise! My lips are Sealed Cissa! Never.” She assured curious as to what would come out of that. She would never betray her friend but she was a bit curious as to what would be so serious.

Surprise flashed across his face. He hadn’t meant to scare the young girl by any means. In honest, he thought she was making her way towards him. He didn’t see how one could get so frightened by a small thing such as that. “Hello,” he replied, finally looking up and meeting her eyes, curious as to when she’d finally get her words out. “I’m just working on a love potion. And do you have a reason for wandering about?”

Doe blushed walking a bit closer interested in the love potion thing. She loved Love potions. She loved Potions but was most interested in how love potions worked. They always seemed terrible and a little wonderful. “Oh I umm... I like to sing and this way... out here... I usually don’t bother as many people when I practice.” She admitted “Do you... want help with your love potions? I mean... just... curious.” She asked looking over the ingredients.

Sirius ran his hands through his hair and interrupted the person speaking to him, bored with whatever they were saying. They hadn’t been speaking for very long, but Sirius didn’t take long to lose focus. “Yeah, yeah. Want to go swimming or something? I’m bored.”

Doe giggled rolling her eyes as Sirius interrupted her talking about some notes from class. “You have no attention span.” she teased brightly shaking her head. “Sure swimming sounds nice.” She relented. “What has your mind so jumpy?” She asked curious if he needed help with something or if it was just because it was hot and the water was cool.

Gaspard looked closely at the ingredients placed in front of him. He had various potion ingredients were in a semi-circle around him. Gaspard was an experimenter, a tryer. And he wanted to mess about a little with with what he had in front of him–despite the fact that Slughorn constantly told him not to. He was sitting, cross-legged, in front of the lake, his favorite place to be in all of Hogwarts. As he studied what was in front of him, he snuck side-long glances at the water, hoping to see the giant squid that was so often gossiped about. “Hello,” he said, not turning away from his work. “Is there something you need?”

Doe was out for a walk humming  as she did and just enjoying the air. Everything was slowly getting colder and the world felt amazing the closer they got to winder and true fall. She sighed and noticed someone working on a potion and tilted her head. She walked over curiously and jumped with a gasp when he talked to her. “Oh... Hi... umm.. Sorry I just...I saw you here and you were..... what are you working on?” She asked stepping closer.

Narcissa didn’t have many friends and that was alright with the blonde, less people to stab her in the back . she tried her best to hang out with the with all the friends she did had , but sometimes that wasn’t possible , especially if one of that friendship was a secret but lucky for her today was one of those days where it was possible . she walks to the place in the castle where she was going to spend time with her friend . “Did you miss me?” she asks jokingly . 

Doe looked up brightly seeing her blonde friend and nodded “Of course! Always Cissa.” She said brightly running up and giving her a big hug. She giggled and looked around. “I have snacks!” she said brightly. “It’s good to see you. I mean I know it’s a small school but still. How is everything going?” She asked. She and Narcissa had an odd relationship. It was one of those fun little private things. She didn’t think it would be a big deal if everyone found out they were friends but she honestly just loved having the secret and she knew the other girl did too. It felt so scandalous. 

Ted nodded. “Yeah…I don’t really have a desire to track her down. So I’m not too worried about it. She hasn’t hurt anyone or said anything…too mean. Just a little petty. I don’t think it’s in my best interest to spend time trying to hunt her down–not when I really need to make good mark this year.” He gave a smile, hopeful. “Anything! Anything at all! Doe, you can win at anything if you just put your full effort in to it.” 

Doe shrugged and tossed her hair to the side. “I suppose you’re right. I’m not in much of a rush to know how she is either honestly. It’s not a big deal.” She said thoughtfully. “Worried about grades?” She asked “I could try and help you study if you need things. We’re in the same classes after all.” She pointed out smirking playfully. “Yeah. So I guess the fortune is right because I win all the time.” She said brightly bouncing a bit.

“Well, there you go!” Lucius gestured in front of him, quite vaguely. Luckily, Doe was one of the people who seemingly liked his light flirting. Which made it more fun for him. “Unfortunately, there were no girls around to see. So it really was a waste!” His sigh was dramatic, almost like he was mocking himself. “How do you scare a ghost? I mean–he can’t die or get injured, so what is there to fear?”

She shook her head and sighed rolling her eyes. “Here.” She said pressing her lips to his. It wasn’t serious. It was just a light little kiss. More than a peck. It wasn’t romantic per say. But he was basically daring her and she didn’t really want to fold from the dare. “It really is a waste.” She agreed looking jokingly sad. “Death isn’t the only thing to be scared of. Being completely alone or unloved. Having no joy would be very scary. Especially for a being that is only mischievous joy.” She pointed out. 

Pandora kept her eyes locked on her cat, trying to somehow telepathically keep him from going wild again. However, he seemed to be relaxed around the other girl, so she wasn’t too terribly frightened. “ Oscar, though he’s PETTY and only responds to me when I call him Ozzy. That is if he even responds, ” she joked. Coming a bit closer, she watched as Ozzy allowed himself to be pet by the girl who had now introduced herself as Doe. “ Aw thanks. I’m Pandora. ” She narrowed her eyes, thinking for a moment. “ You are a sixth year right ? I believe I’ve seen you in class before. ” 

Doe was delighted to hear the name. “Hello Ozzy.” She cooed to the kitty gently petting his back and careful to do only what he liked. “Yeah cats can be a bit fickle sometimes but I love them. They’re great for cuddles when the feel like it.” She smiled brightly “Nice to meet you Pandora.” She nodded “Yes I am. Sixth year Hufflepuff!” She said brightly “Probably.” She agreed. “That would make sense. You did look familiar.” She agreed. “Thank you for letting me meet him he’s wonderful.” She said brightly. “I always wanted a cat.”

Doe was so excited. It was silly really, to be excited, but she was. It was a simple thing hanging out with her friend. But it felt like she never got to do it. She had snuck a few snacks and some pumpkin juice to share as she stole away from most of the crowded parts of the castle to a more secluded part with fewer students. She loved spending time with her friend. They really did have an amazing time. They didn’t really broadcast how close they really were but they loved spending time together talking and giggling and making jokes. Doe set up a blanket to sit on and some pillows from her undetectable extended bag and set out the snacks and drinks waiting for her friend to show up.

“It was nothing,” Alice reassured her as she handed the sheets back to her friend. “What kind of music are you carrying around? Are these new or old ones?” she asked, curiously. She loved listening to Doe playing anything, or just generally talking about music. The passion was so visible, it was an enjoyment, really. “Oh, yes, please join me. And it was nice, especially Hogsmeade after it looked like we weren’t going to be able to go down. I looked around, spent way too much time in Rosa Lee Teabags, though I don’t think that is surprising anymore,” she chuckled. She was way too obsessed with the tea there, and she preferred it to Madam Puddifoot’s place for sure. ”I was actually going to try out the new tea I bought there with my breakfast, do you want to try it out with me?”

Doe took the sheet graciously and held it closer to keep it from flying around. “It’s new music I got this weekend. It’s a new composition that just came out. I heard it and it was beautiful I had to try my hand! Some of the high notes are amazing.” She squealed happily. “Ugh and the Harmonies are so great! I’m hoping to find someone to sing with.” she admitted chattering a thousand miles an hour like she always did with music. “Great!” She said brightly hopping into pace with her friend.. “I know I was really worried! I love those weekends they are a relief.” She sighed brightly. “Oooh new tea! That sounds amazing I’d love to try some.” She said brightly. “I bet she was happy to see her best customer back.” She teased a bit but only in the warmest of ways. “What is this one like?” She asked enjoying the easy chatter with a friend.

“Who the bloody hell else is going to get a kiss on the cheek? This isn’t friendship hour, Doe. This is heroics. Heroics deserve a proper kiss. On the lips. Do you not agree?” He folded his arms, smiling. It was clear how pointedly she was trying to fluff up his ego. Then again, who cared if she was? He loved it. “Well, of course. My shirt was white. It truly was a brilliant show to see. Though not on my terms. Which is unfortunate. Payback indeed.” He tilted his head, thinking it through. Hard to really get payback on a ghost given their incorporeal nature. “I’m sure there’s a spell of some sort…blackmail. I dunno.” 

She smiled “I suppose a properly heroic act could get a properly heroic kiss you’re right. You did save me from Peeves. Well nearly.” She agreed with a sigh. He was funny. She always thought he was funny. He had the oddest sense of humor and the most laissez-faire attitude which she enjoyed. She giggled “I bet. All the girls swooned I’m sure.” She agreed smiling. “Perhaps. He’s not the easiest person to prank. Maybe.... you could Scare him somehow? I think McGonagall gives him a fight you could ask her?” she offered

I’d throw a huge performance for everyone I know and love to be part of so we could all remember the best time.
