Mercy, Not a Spiritual Spectacle

Perez Hilton’s recent crisis should not become a spiritual spectacle. He has publicly spoken in the past about depression, anxiety, therapy, and suicidal thoughts. During his serious mental-health crisis in August 2026, emergency responders transported him to a hospital so he could receive professional care.

We have no evidence that demons caused what happened. The Bible teaches that spiritual warfare is real, but it does not teach that every mental-health crisis is caused by demonic possession.

When Elijah became exhausted, overwhelmed, and wanted to die, God did not condemn him or accuse him of having a demon. God gave him rest, food, water, and compassionate care before speaking to him.

“And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat.” 1 Kings 19:5, KJV

As Christians, we should pray that Perez receives the treatment, protection, support, and healing he needs. Prayer and medical treatment are not enemies. We should respect his privacy, avoid spreading disturbing footage, and refuse to turn another person’s suffering into sensational religious content.

Jesus calls us to show mercy, not shame. Bearing someone’s burden means helping carry the weight, not adding fear, gossip, accusations, or condemnation to it.

“Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2, KJV

Lord Jesus, protect Perez Hilton, comfort his family, and give wisdom to everyone caring for him. Teach Your Church to respond to suffering with truth, mercy, prayer, compassion, and practical help. Amen.

The Gospel Is Not MAGA’s “Golden Age”

Texts: Ecclesiastes 7:10; John 18:36; Ephesians 6:12; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4

The White House released a video declaring, “We come to this place for MAGA,” calling people to “fight, fight, fight” and welcoming Americans to what it calls the “Golden Age.”

Christians must examine this message carefully. It does more than promote government policies. It presents a political movement as a source of belonging, strength, victory, national renewal, and almost personal redemption.

But MAGA is not the Gospel. The White House is not the Church. The national anthem is not a hymn of worship. A political president is not the Messiah, and America is not the kingdom of God.

Jesus said:

“My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight.”

John 18:36, KJV

Our Fight Is Not Against People ---

The video repeats the words “fight, fight, fight.” But Christians must ask: What kind of fight, and against whom?

Paul wrote: “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world.”

Ephesians 6:12, KJV

The Christian struggle is not a political war against immigrants, minorities, LGBTQ+ people, Muslims, Jewish people, Democrats, liberals, or anyone else portrayed as an enemy of America.

Our weapons are not hatred, cruelty, domination, intimidation, or political revenge. Our calling is to preach Christ, love our neighbors, pray for our enemies, defend the oppressed, care for the poor, and overcome evil with good.

The Gospel Does Not Promise Constant Victory ---

The video declares, “We don’t do heartbreak, we do victory.” But Christianity does not deny heartbreak.

Jesus wept. Jesus suffered. Jesus was rejected, mocked, wounded, and crucified. The Gospel does not pretend pain is unreal. It announces that God entered human suffering through Jesus Christ and defeated sin and death through the cross and resurrection. Political propaganda wants the appearance of uninterrupted strength. The Gospel reveals a Savior wearing a crown of thorns.

Political movements promise that their leader will make everything victorious. Jesus tells us to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Him.

The true victory of Christianity is not one political party defeating another. It is Jesus Christ defeating sin, death, and the grave.

Beware the Promise of a “Golden Age” ---

Scripture warns against romanticizing supposedly better times: “Say not thou, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not enquire wisely concerning this.”

Ecclesiastes 7:10, KJV

“Make America Great Again” invites people to remember an imagined past as a golden age. But those days were not golden for everyone. Segregation, racial violence, stolen land, discrimination, poverty, and exclusion were realities for millions. Christians should therefore ask: Golden for whom?

God’s kingdom is not built by returning to a social hierarchy in which certain people possessed power while others were silenced. Jesus is gathering people from every nation, tribe, people, and language.

America Is Not the Kingdom of God ---

The danger begins when devotion to a nation is mixed with devotion to Christ. National symbols, political slogans, military strength, and loyalty to a leader can gradually occupy the place that belongs to God alone.

The Christian confession is not “MAGA is lord.”

It is: “Jesus Christ is Lord.” Philippians 2:11

Our citizenship in heaven does not excuse us from caring about our earthly neighbors. It means that no government, nation, party, or politician can claim our highest allegiance.

The true Gospel is not “fight and win for MAGA.” It is that Jesus Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day according to the Scriptures.

Governments rise and fall. Political movements eventually disappear. Every human ruler will stand before God. But the kingdom of Jesus Christ will never end.

Do not exchange the cross for a political slogan. Do not confuse national victory with spiritual salvation. Do not allow a government to tell you that its political age is the kingdom of God.

There is no golden age without the King of kings.

Jesus alone is Lord.

“Send Me” Belongs to God, Not Empire

The U.S. Department of War posted Isaiah 6:8 over images of soldiers: “Here am I; send me.” But Isaiah 6 is not a military recruitment passage. Isaiah was answering God’s call to become a prophet and confront the sins of his own nation. He was not volunteering to serve an empire or political ruler.

This is where the Member Berries comparison matters. Nostalgia says, “Remember when America was strong? Remember the good old days?” But those days were not good for everyone. Nostalgia can hide racism, injustice, war, and oppression while encouraging people to worship an idealized version of the nation.

When the government turns “Send me” into a military slogan, it risks placing itself where God belongs and using Scripture to baptize nationalism and military power.

America is not God. The military is not the Church. A president is not a savior. Dying for a nation is not the Gospel.

Isaiah first saw the holiness of God, confessed his own sin, received mercy, and was then sent to speak truth to a rebellious people. Christians are called to do the same: preach Christ, love our neighbors and enemies, care for the oppressed, and confront injustice, even when it exists within our own nation.

Jesus Christ alone is Lord, and our highest allegiance belongs to Him.

“We ought to obey God rather than men.”
