She eyed him curiously trying to depict how she should answer the question. With a long drawn out sigh she shook her head. "Nope, not usually." She looked down at her hands before shaking her head once more. "Let's just   Drop it alright? I'm fine, you're fine. As fine as anyone can truly be. Honestly dad, stop worrying." 

When he felt her lean against him, the Doctor put an arm around Rose’s shoulders. He certainly knew that words didn’t fix stuff like this. They only made sense later if they made sense at all. But it was the best he could offer her right now.

"Dad, I'm not hungry." She persisted standing up quickly. "Thalia is fine. She knows I'm fine. You know, the mind goes through every emotion in the book sometimes after a regeneration. Or, you will know. With me." 

The Doctor wasn’t sure what to say. He wanted to reassure her that he would do that, that he would always keep her safe, but that had never been the truth. It seemed unfair that she couldn’t have this simple thing. But their lives were never fair.

She sighed and curled up closer to the animal. Thalia licked her face and she chuckled. "Always looking out for me, yeah?" She mumbled before sitting up with a heavy sigh. "It doesn't make it any easier" she stated leaning against him.

The Doctor’s smiling face morphed into one of regret as she turned to ask him about the dog. He thought of all the times he would have given a life to keep one of his friends by his side. How many times had he wished he could trade his life for theirs and never have to say goodbye? But that was the curse of the Time Lords.

Rose laid down with the dog who happily rested her head on Rose's stomach. "I don't want to lose her" she ran her hand down the dog's back. 

"oh come on! I’m not going to let you starve or something you know. If worse comes to worse, and I hope for your sake it doesn’t, I’ll even cook you something" She hoped for her sake too that that wouldn’t happen. 

"You aren't cooking for me. The last time you tried I was four and you forgot to turn the stove off." She reminded with an eye roll. "Can't we just go to that cafe place the university has?" 

The Doctor sighed wearily at his daughter’s recklessness. She took after him in decidedly unhealthy ways. But he’d always known that. He stooped down to scratch behind the dog’s ears. “Thanks for looking out for her old boy.”

Rose got up once more with Thalia following slowly next to her. "I didn't mind, really. I don't sleep enough that it will bother me anymore." Following into the kitchen she sat on one of the many counter tops. Thalia cautiously walked in and started to slip slightly on the tile. Hopping down Rose helped her dog into the kitchen and on one of the conveniently located beds she assumed the tardis put there. "There you go girl" she whispered.
