genuinely I could talk forever about the different wavelengths that project hail mary is absolutely incredible on and the depth of meaning behind the imagery and the narrative and the cinematographic techniques. but my favorite is when grace and rocky are just absolute roommates. I truly believe with my whole chest that the moving-in sequence is the most important characterization in the piece. they are completely alien species and their worlds are ending and INSTANTLY they are best friends. clock bros. they are snarky and they butt heads and they're sarcastic and they're silly and they play and they laugh and they sing and they fight and they insult each other and they gross each other out and they're curious and they get emotional and they fail and they ache and they live!!!!!! despite it all!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they live and then "rocky make the door, you close the door" "why, I thought this was a safe neighborhood?" there they are, goofy as hell like nothing happened!!!!!!!!!!!

can we talk about the fact that grace & rocky (platonically or romantically) are literally the epitome of "loved to the point of invention" i feel sick whenever i think about them. inventing ways to communicate. inventing ways to live together. inventing ways to save the planet. inventing ways to save each other. inventing ways to almost touch. inventing ways to send each other home. it never ends. they love each other so fucking much i feel like throwing up
