The wyvern fight was really cool! I'm glad I saw a clip of someone jumping on its back. That is really awesome.
Also, it's funny how Hector can do all these flips and cartwheels while having massive axes or two-handed swords on his back. In tight leather pants, no less!
Trevor was an absurdly tough fight. You barely deal any damage to him at this point in the game. It's a good thing I eventually remembered guarding exists! Guarding can create opportunities to strike. Which is good, because you're going to need a lot of those.
I'm glad I switched to the broadsword instead of trying to use a big, heavy axe.
Belmonts and their doppelgängers are the toughest archetype of boss battle. They're always super agile and their attacks come out quickly, and add up fast.
I like how Trevor has a bit of an interesting accent going on, at least in the English dub. I wonder what sort of accent it is?
He also calls Hector a freak during one of his boss battle clips. Uh, Trev? You're one to talk, breaking out a goddamn lightsaber whip and throwing holy water at someone who isn't even a vampire. (Okay, in-universe, it's not a lightsaber whip, that's just there for the player to be able to tell how he's attacking, but it's funnier to think of it that way.)
imagine being a random monster, minding your own business, and you see a man in extremely skimpy leather pants cartwheeling towards you while he has a giant fuck you axe strapped on his back. and this is why you do not fuck with Hector Castlevania
Apparently, the clips of Hector riding the wyvern in the sky were included in the trailers of the game because it is such a memorable moment. I wish I could find those trailers on Youtube. They'd be among the oldest videos ever uploaded on the site, along with ShTH trailers...
Trevor's first fight deploys a cute trick. He has actually "only" 2100 HP, which is not that much - for reference, Isaac has 5850 HP during his first fight. But the health meter is multiplied for eight times, giving the impression that he has 16800 HP! And let me tell you, when I first fought the boss, and I managed to hit him after he was done kicking me like the football, and I only took a sliver of his health, my heart sank and I thought I was fucked and I should have grinded more. Only later I realized that maybe it was done on purpose and I was not meant to win. It's a super neat way to convey how hopelessly out of his depth Hector is at that point, while not making the fight totally unfair or pointless to win.
But yes, Trevor is mean :P he's very aggressive and his lightsaber whip packs a punch... and so do his kicks, arguably even worse (appropriately, they're Trevor's best attack when he's playable lol). You need to be really good at blocking and dodging to not be thrown around like a doll. Because let me tell you, our favorite strapping Forgemaster hunter has taken a liking to whipping the twink...
So I looked it up, and TIL that Terrence Stone, Trevor's VA, is Irish American. That would explain his very slight accent! But not the lisp when he says "inthinerate" :P
yeah I'm almost positive he's yelling "weak!", which is what he calls Hector in the following cutscene lol. But you know what, I love and prefer the idea of Trevor calling Hector freak for serving Dracula, and Hector being all offended like "bitch have you looked at yourself in the mirror??????" fhdsjkfhskjdhfkj. but yeah, I don't know if it was intentional, but Trevor thinking Forgemasters are so inhuman he thinks to take out one with holy water is... interesting :) even more so that it actually hurts Hector. I like to think that the holy water is actually reacting to the unholiness of the abandoned, desecrated cathedral, but Hector is meant to have dark powers and Dracula's essence inside him and all, which would react negatively with holy weapons.
