"Miss me?"
Marvin slumped up from the couch in a half-sleep.
"Hmm?…" Her image slowly came together in his eyes. "Oh, bloody hell. What do you want?"
"Whatever that is, I’m sure the answer is probably!" Myomai fiddled with the box for a few seconds, pulling rods out of slots and reorienting them. "Just a few more… okay." There was a noticeable clicking sound, and Myomai reached out to grab Marvin’s shoulder.
The world exploded in a shower of lights, swarming and writhing, filling both Myomai and Marvin’s views utterly. Order came to the lights slowly as the coalesced back into positions that would define a sensible landscape. They found themselves on a rocky plateau surrounded by plains. From the foot of the plateau a series of clanking sounds, like metal on rock, could be heard.
"I will seriously, never, ever get used to that."
Marvin watched her calibrate this box with mild fascination. The rearrangement of the cosmos was a fairly mundane sight, but the magic version of it was a bit stirring. Marvin had to blink hard a few times to adjust after the lights. The clanking pricked Marvin's ears and he looked down from the plateau to see what it was. "What exactly, is making that sound, Myomai?"
''Is that a ribbon I see? Where'd you get it?''
"A... ribbon? I don't know that I have a ribbon." He looked down at his shoes to see that he didn't trail one in.
"Miss me?"
Marvin slumped up from the couch in a half-sleep.
"Hmm?…" Her image slowly came together in his eyes. "Oh, bloody hell. What do you want?"
He watched her scurry around. “Oh? That does sound like it could be interesting. Sure. It’s not like there’s much here to look at. Lead the way.”
“Great! I’m sure it’ll end with a minimum of dismemberment.” Myomai drew a puzzle box with dozens of small pointed metal bars extending out of it from her clothing. It was about the size of her palm. “I got some new transportation. You might want a weapon or something, between the superstitious locals and metal monstrosities, it’s not really a safe place.”
"I suppose the plasma pistol will do fine." Marvin shrugged and went into his bedroom, returning to her as he put on a jacket and tucking his pistol into it. "Let's go."

"I’ve been as well as a person can be while they spend most of the day having ennui. And you?"
“Much the same, I suppose, but I’m not as much of a grump about it,” she teases. “Let’s do something fun. Spar, explore, investigate the meaning of life. Something.”
"Grumpiness is my main function. It’s literally the core of my personality," he sighed. "But, if you want to do something, we could go out somewhere. You would have to choose the place. I’m not much good at finding fun."
“Hm…” She rolls over the couch, disappearing from view for a moment before peeking over the edge of the couch past Marvin’s feet. “Somewhere in my world, then…”
She grins, crosses her sends on the couch, and lays her head on her arms. “Numeria. You’ll love it. Constructs, lasers, and supernatural horrors.”
He watched her scurry around. "Oh? That does sound like it could be interesting. Sure. It's not like there's much here to look at. Lead the way."
"Miss me?"
Marvin slumped up from the couch in a half-sleep.
"Hmm?…" Her image slowly came together in his eyes. "Oh, bloody hell. What do you want?"

Marvin relaxed in his seat again. “I suppose that beats the old way. You won’t find any ensouled creatures here, of course. Topside, maybe. But not down here.”
((I’m on my phone, so expect awful formatting.)) “I know that. But I didn’t come here looking for snacks. How’ve you been Marv? It’s been a while.”

"And what do you mean by ‘meal’?" Marvin’s eyed narrowed, and he scooted away from her by a couple of inches.
Myomai rolls her head over to stare at Marvin. “Devouring the souls of the innocent, of course.”
She maintains eye contact for a couple of moments before smiling and looking up at the ceiling. “If it makes you feel any better, I’ve been dieting. I only take prey when it starts to hurt.”
"Oh."
Marvin relaxed in his seat again. "I suppose that beats the old way. You won't find any ensouled creatures here, of course. Topside, maybe. But not down here."

"And what do you mean by 'meal'?" Marvin's eyed narrowed, and he scooted away from her by a couple of inches.

"Hmm?..." Her image slowly came together in his eyes. "Oh, bloody hell. What do you want?"
"MARVIN, HIDE ME!"
Marvin rushed her into his guest room before asking, “what am I hiding you from exactly?”
"I WENT TO THE ZOO AND ALL THE BIRDS ARE CHASING ME," she shouted from under the guest room desk. "I think I made them mad when I flew in there and pretended to be a flamingo. And when I sat on a flamingo, but it was an accident! Do you know how hard it is to bend your legs backwards? So I lost my balance, fell, the flamingo bit me, then I screamed which got the other birds mad, and then they chased me out of the zoo and followed me even when I tried flying away! (I’m pretty sure I’m banned from the zoo now, which is a shame because I wanted to ride the new polar bear."
"I..." Marvin sat down and sighed. "Good God, Derpy."
The sound of flamingoes could be heard from the roof. Marvin looked to the ceiling and said, "you should stay for the night, I think."
I miss you the most on the ride home. The faint smell of gasoline reminds me of you tinkering away at whatever silly gadget you brought over that day and felt like showing me. Hero business just isn't the same when I'm not coming home to you. I grew too used to your constant company. I miss cheering you up during your self deprecation fits and seeing that wonderful smile of yours. I miss your soothing voice bidding me good morning and good night.
