The most interesting question you can ask about any character is not what do they want. it's what do they believe they deserve. because those two things are almost never the same and the gap between them is where your entire story lives. a person can want love completely and believe they don't deserve it and that belief will destroy every good thing that comes toward them in ways they won't even notice they're doing. write the gap. the gap is the character.

nice pair of characters who trust each other more than anyone else in the whole entire world it would sure be a shame if one of them betrayed that trust for the sake of trying to keep the other alive. it would sure be a shame to love someone so much you destroy them

well presumably you didnt get it for free, you got it by paying taxes. which i think is based, taxes should be used to pay the needs of everyone, but technically it wasnt "free"

Do you think that the "life saving medication should be free" people are using the word "free" in that very specific way. Do you think that they are saying that taxes should not pay for medicine instead of the far more obvious and direct use of the word 'free' AKA "the end user should not pay out of pocket for life saving medication". If I were in a traffic jam and I said "man, this car is NOT moving," would you conclude that I meant that the temperature of the car was at absolute zero and it was not rotating with the earth.
