This one was fun because it started as "Man Strolling In The Woodsā and ended up as "Night Watchman Discovers Cadaver In A Wagon By The Docksā (Iām kicking myself for not saving the original sketch to compare).
The whole point of this was to get back into painting and allow my imagination to roam, so I wonāt be completing it. Itās served itās purpose!
Itās been a while, but so life goes. Iām half tempted to delete all the old stuff and start over, but whereās the fun in that? You reach a point where your old art is as much a part of you as your memories of high school social life. Often cringeworthy, sometimes painful, but always formative. Besides, it would take me another two years to get anything on this blog again at my glacial pace of posting.
This is as much a character design sketch as a storyboard test. He looks more like a villain than a heroic US Marshall, but I think thatās sometimes how it is.
A character design Iāve been working on for a while now, finally settled on something I like quite a bit. Hope to do some expression sheets and a turn around later.
We're selling my childhood home, which means going back through all sorts of things I haven't seen in years. This guy caught my eye in an old sketchbook and I thought it might be fun to redesign him. I changed up his sidekick because let's be real, an otter with spikes is WAY cooler than whatever that Mushu rip-off was.

Just a quick sketch to wind down from a long day, nothing special.
They say never to meet your heroes, that youāll be disappointed. I say you need to pick better heroes.
I met Jamie Moyer at 16, when he came to talk to my school about his foundation, and Iām convinced heās one of the better people on this earth.
Sidenote: Likenesses are hard and hopefully Iāll keep improving... Kyle Websterās gouache brushes sure make it fun to practice though! Check them out: http://www.kyletwebster.com/
Rough sketches of contrasting characters for an AnimSchool class. I though librarians would be fun.
Two āhero boardsā for story pitches in my AnimSchool class. Ironically, I ended up using neither and went with my third pitch (that was only included so Iād have three of them). I didnāt bother sketching anything for it because I thought it was the weakest... Figures, right?
For the longest time Iāve felt I couldnāt draw girls; I could only draw what looked like really effeminate dudes. Iāve been working on it though, and I think Iāve come a long way.

A quick exercise in pulling design elements from a photo. Part of an extracurricular art class at AnimSchool. The photo was pulled from google and I didnāt get the source because Iām an awful goober.
I donāt understand Tumblr so enjoy this one over-sized/blurry token and then some normal sized ones that I made of my friendsā Pathfinder characters for use on a virtual tabletop.
Something Iāve learned on my first sculpt: Loose designs are worse than no designs. I should have done this earlier.
This was going to be a 2D art blog, wasn't it? Oh well. I've jumped into ZBrush for the first time and sculpture is like, totally a traditional medium right? Still WIP, I need to put some time into designing his outfit.
At this rate I think I can average one post a month! Whoo! Always been a golden retriever guy, but these two squirts have grown on me.

My first tumble! Iāve recently been reading a lot about different military uniforms over the past century, and thought it would be fun to riff off of some of that. Playing with some photoshop brushes for loose sketching as well.
