My professional background includes a Ph.D. in History (my dissertation dealt with Chile in the nineteenth century), a M.A. in International Studies (thesis on world music and copyright), several years broadcasting at non-commercial radio stations and retailing music, as well as a scary summer of DJing at weddings and middle school parties. But the main thing is I love dance music.

You're not really supposed to say it this way, because its considered crass, but here in the US children are culturally and legally considered essentially the property of their parents.

Note that its considered more crass to point this out than it is to treat children as property in the first place.
