Sykes has a very close friendship with Dice. Because sometimes it’s just like that. They *get* each other in ways neither fully know why but it’s both a sweetness and bittersweet truth in that their job kept them away from living a “normal” life and threw them into the insanity and dark world before joy. It’s that push and pull of Joy numbing the horror and the dawn of waking to see the ones you love go off on holiday or laying in a pool of gore that pushes them into this maddening spiral.

Sykes also has ptsd from witnessing the blitz and the horror of trying to retrieve bodies from charred buildings. To take account while looking for survivors. He sits with this and it surfaces. Dice talks him down from the heights from the darkness. Dice doesn’t know it but there have been nights he saved Sykes life.

Trauma has names, places, sights, sounds, smells.

Lust slams against walls fucks without thought and leaves. Love wakes up and realizes the passion has given away to something more determined and deeper. That says I see you, I will share your pain and carry you.

So yeah I believe Sykes certainly loves Dice.
