He turns to you with a deep frown. “What?” His voice is sharp, like he can’t believe what he heard. “Who is?” He’s hoping you don’t mean him.

“You are.” You have the decency to blush. You hadn’t meant to say it out loud but watching him work you realised he had a very nice face. Pretty.

“Pretty? Like what I’m some pretty boy?” He looks almost disgusted.

“In a manly way, though.” Your attempts to save yourself seem thin and pathetic. You sigh in exasperation.

He laughs an incredulous laugh like he thinks you’re silly and turns away again with a smile on his face. “Right.” He doesn’t sound convinced.

Daryl Dixon

He doesn’t even react at first. He’s still looking off in the distance, deep in thought with some fishing wire between his fingers.

“Oh thank god you didn’t hear that.” You whisper to yourself and start to turn away.

Daryl turns to you then. “Huh? Y’say something?”

“Uh.” You blush, realising you now have to come clean. “I said you’re pretty?” You didn’t mean for it to sound like a question.

Daryl frowns at you. “Me?” He points to his chest.

“Yeah.” You watch him closely, mirroring his frown.

He scoffs and turns away. “Did you hit your head or what?”

“I just think…you’re nice to look at. I mean, you have a nice face.” You internally groan at yourself. Could you sound more stupid?

“Uh…well, thanks…I guess.” He looks at you like you’re weird for a second but you could have sworn there was a slight pinkie tint to his cheeks afterwards.

Merle Dixon

“Oooh. You think I’m pretty?” He grins and steps closer. “That mean you wanna kiss me, huh?” He teases, his smirk dangerous.

“I just meant-“ he cuts you off.

“No no no. You’re not getting outta this one, princess.” He stalks closer, ignoring any eyes on you both. “Answer my question. Am I pretty enough to kiss?” He puckers his lips at you.

For a moment you have no response.

“Maybe.” Is all you can muster.

I gotta tell ya, it sucks to be so drawn to the lesser known, lesser simped for characters in a show.

I’ve searched and searched on this damn site and found no fan fic for him. Of course, I’m tempted to write my own but if any of you have found anything on this guy, send it my way, please. Including any external links.

I need help finding an image. Specifically a windows wallpaper.

I first saw this wallpaper almost 11 years ago. That doesn’t indicate when it was made or came into existence or whatever but maybe it would help.

It was a white background with loads of these floating white, shiny bunny things. They had different coloured gem eyes. Like pink, teal, green, yellow.

I thought I had a copy saved but I can’t find it. Basically I just love this wallpaper and want to find it again.

Daryl x fem!reader

Hello. It’s been a while. How are we all? Good? I hope so. Anyway, this fic was inspired by an interview with Norman Reedus about the way he plays Daryl. I can’t find the link but I saw it on TikTok a while back.

I wanted to try something different and write Daryl a little more like how Norman sees him. That he’s the type of guy to have little to no experience with women. To the point he’s a virgin and doesn’t notice when he’s being flirted with etc.

It’s a little angsty at the end, I apologise for that.

You realised too late that the partially rotten bench you sat on was still damp from the rain last night. You didn’t get up though, there was no unwetting your trousers, although you cringed at the idea of standing up and feeling the coldness seep through.

Daryl was sat next to you, either unaware or not caring that the bench was damp. He was leaned forward, his elbows resting on his knees as he picked apart the nuts you both scavenged. He hardly looked at you but you knew this was normal for him. He hardly looked at anyone.

“Anything good?” You asked.

Daryl grunted, “Yeah.”

You nodded but he wasn’t even looking. Instead, something else filled your mind until there was nothing else that could squeeze in, not even walkers.

“So,” you started, feeling nervous. Now you were the one who couldn’t look at him. “We’ve been at Alexandria a while now and…some of the women have been eyeing you up…” Daryl tensed up as you spoke. Was he aware? Or just uncomfortable talking about women like that? “You haven’t thought about dating?”

He doesn’t answer right away, probably thinking of a way to respond, if at all.

“No,” was all he said but he remained tense. You wondered whether you should keep going but figured you wouldn’t get a chance alone with him like this again.

“None of them?” You pressed, leaning forward slightly to get a better look at him. He side-eyed you and then leaned back and sighed. “Not even girls you gather nuts with and sit next to on damp benches?”

The hint was slapping him in the face and yet you sensed he’d still not get it.

In fact, when he turned to look at you like you’d lost your mind, your senses were correct. You sighed dramatically.

“Ugh. Do I have to spell it out for you?”

He still looked confused. “Spell out what?”

Your heart was beating so fast in your chest, like a hummingbird had replaced it and your ribcage was its cage.

“I like you.” Your voice warbled as it came out, as the hummingbird broke free and hadn’t quite grasped how to fly in open air. You felt vulnerable, ready to be shot down.

“You *like* me? What do you mean?” His voice wavered too.

“Like, I have feelings for you. Romantic feelings.” You almost felt silly having to clarify exactly what kind of feelings you felt toward him but you also felt it was necessary. Daryl seemed lost in the ways on romance.

“What?” He stuttered, looking around him…for what? Danger? Salvation? An answer?

“You don’t have to give me an answer right now. Let’s just…go back and you can think on it, okay?” Standing up, you half-expected Daryl to follow you in eagerness to get home and away from this conversation.

But he stayed put, watching you as you stood up. Now it seemed his eyes were glued to you. “Answer to what?”

For a moment you wondered if he was messing with you, that he just wanted you to “spell out” exactly what you wanted him to say but then you stopped and watched his expression. He’s serious. He doesn’t get it.

“I meant-” You started to explain but another thought stopped you. “Have you…never dated anyone before?”

He stared at you but something in his expression softened. “Does it matter?”

His shields were coming up, like your question was an accusation.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to…” Find the words. Find them. “I’m just trying to understand you. It doesn’t matter to me whether you’ve been with someone before or not.” Dejection fell upon you and your shoulders dropped. Now was not the time to continue this conversation. “Let’s just go home and forget I said anything.”

You walked to the bike, keeping your back to him. You knew something like this might happen. He had always seemed like a loner but you were never sure how far that extended. After today you were sure nothing would happen between the two of you.
