Divine Right royal families - the Ó Rinn Dynasty of Vugge

King Brennan of Vugge was only a teenager before he single-handedly build his own ship. He was in his early 20s when he began leading his own men into battles and long sea voyages. And he was 30 when his aunt died and the stars declared him the next king of Vugge. He was in the Sea of Luminata when he received a calling from the stars to return home. There, his wife Edin presented him with a son he hadn’t seen since infancy, Devin, and a crown.

Brennan became Brennan X and with his wife, they had three children. He was never a king who favored absolute rule. And because he could never choose a favorite between his heirs, he divided his kingdom up into three provinces. Devin, the eldest and fiercest warrior, was given the territories of the Low Hills. Ewgan, his second son, stern and seafaring, was given the north and the sea. His third and quietest child, Rowan, was given the central valleys called The Cradle. One son was a warrior, another loved the sea, and the last craved the stars. They were called the Golden Ones.

The reign of Brennan X was quiet and mostly uneventful, save for the tragedies in Erraviquo and Galit in the later years. By then, Vugge was entirely governed by his princes. 

Devin loved one woman his whole life. He was only 17 when he met a girl named Garan, with no extensive bloodline to her name. He married her and it was said the hard warrior only showed softness in regards to his wife. Three years later she gave him a son named Ruary and unfortunately she died only days after. Devin never recovered from that loss. Years later he had a brief infatuation with a married woman named Eoghan who gave him twins Winnie and Callam, but it was nothing like his love for Garan. 

He can currently be found at Fort Nuka, a training commander for the Vuggian Army under the command of his son, Ruari who serves as general to Brogan’s military.

Ewgan made shipbuilding a substantial part of Vugge’s economy, taking after his father with the love of the craft and all things nautical. It was a trip to Gloriaterra though that made him realize there was no reason why Vugge couldn’t be as financially successful and stable as Southern countries. He married a woman named Kass (mostly out of pressure from his father), but the two found a steady rhythm of fondness for each other over the years. Brogan was born first, and because of the many years Ewgan and Kass spent apart from each other, their second and last son Ronan wasn’t born until 10 years later.

Rowan was always an enigma to their family even as a child. Growing up they always felt a deep and spiritual connection to the stars and craved an understanding of them more than anything else in the world. And though this piety was integral to Vugge’s religion, it was it was not something their brothers Ewgan or Devin understood. They understood it less when their father died and it was Rowan that was chosen as the next ruler of Vugge by the stars. It was not a role they particularly craved and business in the other regions went on as ever, with little interference from the Cradle. Rowan only reigned for six years before their death in 1002. The exact circumstances, is still unknown. They did have a son, just as pious and religious as they were, Tristan, who is by no means a warrior or an adventurer, but just as passionate for life and all its offerings, particularly uncovering the mysteries of the stars.

Before Rowan’s death, they, along with many other kings and queens internationally, signed a series of documents known as the Divine Order which preluded to the future of Vugge - in it, the next ruler would have to marry either Catarina of Marigemma (or if Winnie was chosen, the younger brother Adrien). Ronan was chosen as consort to Taraesa of Blauensee. And because Brogan was crowned next, he was told of this order, and that it ordered his marriage to Catarina, despite her being a decade younger, Brogan intended on obeying his duty. Both brothers willingly accepted their roles in the new world of things, even in the face of the disapproval of their father. Marriages to foreigners is unheard of in Vugge, especially as foreign as Marigemma. Ewgan still hasn’t accepted Ronan playing the role of consort.

The other cousins eventually formed relationships of their own. Ruary fell in love with a woman named Ewa who was once his rival all through school. They have a son named Duncan. 

Winnie was conqured by the enigmatic warriormaiden Taran, who defected from Erraviquo to become a soldier.

Tristan married when he was 16 to Kiean, together they have three children Lorcan, Niamh, and Maeve. 

Crowned, they were, before the eyes of Man and Heaven. Crowned they were in jewels of many colors, in cloaks as old as their nations. Heirs of legacies divinely mandated. They were born of cosmos and chaos made flesh.

“Without endings there are no beginnings. Everything must pass, and in doing so it gives it’s life to something else. There is a constancy to life, an impossibly large one that’s eternal, but it’s made up of millions of other smaller flaming lights that fade and grow again with time. The totality is always the same brilliance, even if the individual candles shift as the winds change. All we can do is shine for all we’re worth, and know that without darkness, we would never shine so bright “
