I’m more than sad. I’m angry. Because this happens time and time and time again, but nothing changes. Notice the one word in the verse in you mentioned that says “unjustly”? Jihad is not unjust to them. Not when there are other verses that say to kill unbelievers (Quran (2:191-193) - “And kill them wherever you find them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out. And Al-Fitnah [disbelief or unrest] is worse than killing… but if they desist, then lo! Allah is forgiving and merciful. And fight them until there is no more Fitnah [disbelief and worshipping of others along with Allah] and worship is for Allah alone. But if they cease, let there be no transgression except against Az-Zalimun(the polytheists, and wrong-doers, etc.)” Quran (9:29) - “Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.” Quran (47:3-4) - “Those who disbelieve follow falsehood, while those who believe follow the truth from their Lord… So, when you meet (in fight Jihad in Allah’s Cause), those who disbelieve smite at their necks till when you have killed and wounded many of them, then bind a bond firmly (on them, i.e. take them as captives)… If it had been Allah’s Will, He Himself could certainly have punished them (without you). But those who are killed in the Way of Allah, He will never let their deeds be lost.” ). Just because there are muslims who don’t kill people doesn’t mean we should exclude the ones that do. Doesn’t mean that we should exclude the fact that it is a religion that calls for unbelievers to die because Allah is pleased by it (Quran (61:4) - “Surely Allah loves those who fight in His cause”). There are other verses in the Quran that call for jihad. So the key word in the verse you brought up is “unjust.” Killing unbelievers in the name of Allah sounds pretty justified to me just from those few verses.

What if I was judging a religion based on the ideologies and laws they deem as truth (sharia law, you know, the wife beating, women need guardians, children marriages ), the fact that it calls for the killing of unbelievers over 100 times, the fact that they want to kill LGBT. I don’t have a problem with someone believing in a big guy up in the sky. My problem is when it harms other people as it has countless times. These terror attacks are caused by ISIS who stand for Islam. Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. Terror attack in the past all for jihad-holy war, which is in fact one of the pillars of Islam. Key word Islamic. Just because you want to cherry pick the bits that talk about how the give to the poor and charities and such doesn’t mean that the harsh truth doesn’t exist. You are just choosing to ignore it because not all muslims, right?

Those who do not remember the past are doomed to repeat it. This is one of the many things running through my head. What happened in Manchester is terrible and my heart goes out to the families affected by it. But I'm seeing a trend that is just repeating itself over and over and over again. There is a terrorist attack, people start hashtagging pray for ________, profile pictures go up with the flag of that country overtop of it, after a week or so, it goes quiet, no one speaks of what happens, no one remembers. Wash, rinse, repeat. I'm guilty of this too, I've done it too. But we can't come to a solution when no one wants to address the problem. Twenty-two year old Salman Abedi, child of Libyan refugees (Libya being an Islamic country), detonated a nail bomb killing not only himself, but 22 people, youngest being 8 years old. Children are missing, now even, many more injured. This is the worst attack England has seen in 12 years. But this will all just fade away in a week or two because no one wants to say anything because feelings are way too important. ISIS has claimed this attack on as their own. Whether or not that's true, they still have. And not to burst bubbles, ISIS does represent Islam. Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. It's right in the name. But just like the cries of "not all muslims are terrorists," well not all muslims are good either. Whether we want to agree or disagree, the Quran and the Hadith is full of passages commanding the death of infidels or nonbelivers. 109 verses to be specific if you wanted to know. But wait, I hear you saying, the Bible has commandments about that too! And yeah, it's true. The Christian Bible does talk about wiping out nations that didn't believe in God. But the thing is, that isn't still followed today. That isn't practiced today. Jihadism is. Terrorism is. We need to stop being so apathetic to this. Islamic ideology, political Islam, does not coincide with western culture, unless as a man you agree with beating your wife when she doesn't obey, perhaps killing her if she tries to flee from the abuse, and/or marrying children. As a woman, having to have male guardianship-be it husband, son, father, uncle- in order to leave the house, vote, have a license. As a woman having your wardrobe dictated to you, under the fear of being beaten for removing your head coverings. And if you happen to be part of the LGBT community, you'd lose your life, possibly by being thrown off a building. It's time to wake up. This has gone on long enough. I'm tired of this cycle. If we don't stop it, we can say goodbye to western society as we know it because Islam and western society cannot mix. It's why Sweden and Germany are basically rape countries now. England has had 2 terrorist attacks since the beginning of 2017. And now the Jihad in the Philippines. Islam is leaving destruction in its wake. And I'm done living in this cycle. Islam is not a religion of peace. Wake up!

So I'm not dead dear followers. My life kinda went insane for a long time and so I've been distracted. Firstly, I graduated university with a BA in ESL. I also moved back home and got a job. You're looking at a baker at Walmart. Super super exciting, I know. Adam and I are still going strong. We'll have been together 6 months come July 8th, (July 1st honestly but we were never "official" until January 8th so meh =P ). He at that point will officially be my longest relationship. He bought me a promise ring to give to me because originally I was leaving in August to teach English in Vietnam for 2 years and he was promising to be here when I got back, but life circumstances happened and now I'm leaving in January and he didn't want to wait to give it to me. So I'm not dead. I just kinda have a real life going on now. So yeah, adulting I guess.
