it's always time, in no time at all...

Maurice Ceha or Gus or my Grandad (which I was never allowed to call him) Died peacefully on August 22, 2010. 

He was a Maths teacher and Tank Commander of an Infantry, Mk III, Valentine in World War 2. He fought in many battles in North Africa and then after blowing the tracks of his tank, and shooting him in the arm as he escaped from the disabled vehicle, was captured by the Axis to be a Prisoner of War.

He loved his wife. I never got to meet my Grandmother as she died quite young of cancer before I was born, Gus sent her messages from the POW camp in Africa and that correspondence was the only glimpse of her I ever knew. Sally loved him too. He never met another girl after her.

Gus showed me how to use a BBC Micro computer, how to load games on a 5¼ floppy disk and use command line prompts. He enjoyed playing with computers in his latter years designing, printing and folding every one of my Birthday/Christmas cards himself on MS paint.

He was funny, playful, intrigued and energetic til the end. His avid interest is science compelled me and his wisdom, which he never imposed, was notably infinite.

I miss Gus. I wish I could see him one more time at Christmas for another poor excuse of where Father Xmas’ brandy and mince pies went. I’d like to play with magnets with him. I would introduce him to my German girlfriend.

I wrote this because there should be more about Gus Ceha on the internet, from a broken family he is my one shining example of who I want to be. When I need to, I’ll come back to this post to remind myself of who I am supposed to be. 

Yesterday I wrote a plan, a plan devised only of a journey with no ultimate destination. That is not to say, without the distinct and vivid colours of destiny however.

To be, how to be, what to be, so many questions when 'being' is probably the very answer to them all. Experiences draw conclusions, but to conclude bequeath the end. 

Are we journeying to the end, even without a final location. Is life predetermined to the finite or are the actions we commit a karma to the infinite.

Religion. Belief. Humanity. Morality.

Is the purpose of life to replenish the goodness that initiates progress and happiness, an ideal for the future, or to remember our past and reflect on experience and the knowledge already ascertained.

Is doing the right thing as known by physics and history more advantageous than the courage to wonder of the mystical future.

Aspirations. Desire. Yearning. Morality.

Tomorrow I forget the plan, I lose a part of mankind, and get lost in serendipity.
