Racism vs Colorism Racism is discrimination based on race. It is the belief that different races possess distinct characteristics, abilities, or qualities, especially so as to distinguish them as inferior or superior to one another. This leads to systemic or institutionalized racism, which is embedded as normal practices within society or organizations such as wealth inequality, employment, housing, education, healthcare, criminal justice, & immigration. Colorism is discrimination based on skin color. It is is a form of prejudice in which people who are usually members of the same race are treated differently based on the social implications which come with the cultural meanings that are attached to skin color. If you are unable to understand a simple analogy like this, then you are part of the problem.
