Okay. Let's get the inevitable out of the way. I'm physically disabled. I wasn't always this way, but life happens (as it is wont to do). Due to this, I had to let go of my own standards of cleanliness and rely on others to get things done. But I am not happy with that. Nor have I ever been. It isn't fair to anyone.
So I am doing what I can to get back into my old routine. Realistically, I know this isn't going to be the same. It is more of a "using my old routine as a template to create a new one". But I need to do what I can. If by my keeping myself accountable here helps anyone else, then it will have been worth it.
Be ready to see before and after photos. They help motivate me. The routine will change from what I have queued, that is pretty much guaranteed as I figure out what works for myself and my family. I used this routine originally over a decade ago... Times change.
Also, some of my tasks for myself may involve cleaning for/with my kids. The ones that can, do their own chores. The ones that can't, get help when needed. I'm just heading off the inevitable comments about me cleaning for/with my adult & teen kids before they start. I'm not the only one with disabilities in my home.
Glossary of Terms
F.A.S.T Purge:
Fix a time.
Anything that you haven't used in 12 months (or that you all agree can go) should be tossed.
Stuff that belongs anywhere but the zone you're cleaning -- school books, mail, magazines, and articles of clothing -- should be whisked away.
Trash. Get rid of it.
NEXT THING:
Once you've gotten into the habit of doing the monthly tasks regularly, you can add this to your routine. (Note - the day before your day of rest will always be to make meals to be eaten on the day of rest. And the day of will always be to just rest. Whether that is on Shabbos for Jews or Sunday for Christians. If you are not religious, pick any day you wish. You deserve rest, too!)
