The digital library “Topostext” has a database sorted via characters if you look for Diomedes there (https://topostext.org/people/124) you can find all mentions of him in the most important ancient sources, it’s a great place for research, his Wikipedia page is also very extensive! Use this opportunity to learn more about him!

Today Ulises provided me with his expert advice through his fantastic and exclusive Free Ecological Service. used to think so much about how I could justify giving trojan war characters scars and the logistics of how they’d get them in battle but then I realized I could give Diomedes scars that look a little like boar’s tusks and I never looked back
Diomedes is one of the many heroes that exists within the larger corpus of myths within Greek (and later Roman) mythology, who lived at the time of the Trojan War and was one of the leaders that sailed to Troy to bring back Helen and sack the city.
He was born and raised in Argos, a city in the east of the Greek Peloponnesian Peninsula which is historically the second oldest continuously inhabited city in Europe and mythologically was home to and involved in myths and like the Danaïdes, Perseus, Melampus, as well the Seven Against Thebes .
He plays a significant role in the Iliad, one of the epic poems that told the story of the Trojan war (and with the odyssey the only one that survives in full to this day). In the Iliad he plays an important part in Book/Rhapsody Five, as well as Ten, with various other scenes and appearances.
Outside the Trojan War he also played a (unfortunately today unknown) role in one of the epics surrounding the Theban Cycle - The Epigoni.
However even outside of those poetic cycles there's a whole row of myths that surround him a few before and a good number after the Trojan war. He was also worshiped as a hero god (similar to Heracles, though with a smaller cult) during archaic and later times.
Despite this he's surprisingly unknown today (though his popularity seems to be slowly rising again…yet even then he's mostly known for the trojan war and exploits with Odysseus, and little else)
So the next hopefully 49 posts (or through however many i manage to hold pace) will be covering all I've learned in the past 2 years of my research.

Two years ago I compiled a list for ideas for a post series on Diomedes

From Book V of Homer's Iliad. Upon being grievously wounded by the Achaean warrior Diomedes, the hero Aeneas is saved through divine intervention from his mother, the goddess Aphrodite.
The characters are depicted here in historically inspired looks from the late Bronze Age, the period when the Trojan War was believed to have been set. Aphrodite's look in particulate is based off of Mycenaean frescos as well as Cypriot idols.

The first photo depicts Odysseus killing a tracian soldier, the second photo is Diomedes killing King Rhesus, the next two photos show the horses of Rhesus, and the last two photos are equestrian decorative motifs.
Aside from how obviously beautiful Amphora is as a whole, I love the fact that the weapons are perched in trees and everyone is on cots, it's so cute, not to mention the clothes they're all wearing.
I also love the horses, they're all gorgeous.

how I imagine Euippe ;) she's absolutely a guiding figure for him, this man barely knew how to be a human being in Greece, so a new land entirely? chaos!
