After a few moments, Kaneki's eyes landed on a small bottle labeled "ʜᴜᴍᴀɴ ᴘᴏᴛɪᴏɴ". His entire world slowed down as a stone cold glare was kept on the glass container. His heart was dropping way below his stomach, and it almost felt like he was losing his breath as the seconds ticked away. Right before him was a chance to be human again; back to his normal self like he was before the chain of events drastically changed his life. Shaky hands reached out to push other potions aside and grab the bottle sitting on the shelf with his name branded onto it. 

Heaven was in his hands as he held the tiny glass bottle in his hands. He still kept his gaze on it, taking in what was almost like a savior to him. Of course, Kaneki knew that the potion would only last two days, but those two days were going to be a blessing to his soul. His hands trembled as he tried to desperately pop open the lid, which concealed the liquid content inside from his hungry desire to consume it. 

Once the lid popped open, a small shroud of pink haze surrounded his face and nostrils. The scent was far from pleasant, but the idea of being a human again overpowered the smell of the mysterious potion. Using his hand to wave away the pink cloud, Kaneki took a deep breath and slowly exhaled. Clammy hands held the bottle towards his lips, his bottom half touching the opening of the bottle slightly. Another deep breath before he raised the bottle to make the liquid slide past his lips and into his mouth. The liquid almost made him want to puke, but he had to keep it down— he had to be human again.

The liquid crawled its way down his throat, traveling down his esophagus and making heading toward his stomach. The mixture made his stomach ache, and his throat felt a slight burning sensation, but once a few minutes passed, everything had changed. A slight, pleasant strawberry scent filled his nostrils, and it wasn't long before he realized the smell was coming from the bottle he had opened. Kaneki gripped on the bottle tightly, as if it were his life-line.

A single tear has started to creep down his face, making his eyes watery and the vision of the glass bottle blurry. He couldn't help it, though, it was almost as if a miracle has happened. Slowly his knees started to buckle from underneath him, falling to the ground hard on his knees and almost dropping the fragile container. The waterworks came more quickly now, drenching his face with salty, warm tears. His breath became ragged, gasping oxygen as his whole body heaved. Placing the bottle on the ground, Kaneki laid his head on the ground and grasped his right hand over his eyes.
