I just think having a monarchy is strange since the princess really doesn't do much, and the show is set in more of a modern day era.

I dunno. Those are just my thoughts.

Heh, yeah, and it might just come down to “girls show have princess” and princess means just about anything in this context. After all they hold an election to be princess in episode 11.

Princess Berrykin really seems to be more of a manager than anything, managing the Berry Works, and various events (as strawberry had to do in the Berryfest Princess trilogy) and I dunno maybe she’s even caring for the babies.

As a side note, I’m guessing Princess Berrykin wasn’t specifically elected (since Post Master Bumblebee said they were holding an election for the first time) and was born into her role/maybe she’s just always existed. I feel like it’s slightly implied that she’s super old and couple times.

*ahem*

Blueberry was barely in it and had little to no screentime.

Lemon and Raspberry had that "technology in fashion" storyline, but after that, they just faded.

Orange was a supporting character. She had decent lines and I love how sassy she can be, for lack of a better term.

Plum was also a good supporting character, with decent lines and character, and she takes her dance teacher role "berry" seriously, which is nice.

Cherry was a background character for most of the season. She had one episode dedicated to her, which is the last episode. Which is more than I could say for the others. But still, she barely said or did anything.

Huckleberry was only in one episode. I was surprised when they brought him back, because I thought he was just gone after Season 3. (I actually don't have a problem with Huckleberry in BBA, I think it's refreshing to have at least one boy character in a sea of females.)

Strawberry, of course, has a lot of screentime and dialogue, but I appreciate that we see her in a more expressive light. She isn't happy all the time, and she has her moments where she has no choice but to flip out. Whenever she gets ANGRY, it's always hilarious to me.

I dunno. I think Sour is an amazing character. I think her sour and sarcastic attitude is an amazing parallel to everyone else. Everything about Sour is refreshing. She has funny lines, her outfit is very Tim Burton-y, and she HATES being compared to her sister even though they look nothing alike.

Sweet is just... Fluttershy. I don't know what else to say about her. Her outfit is pretty. She's the only character with glasses, actually, which adds to her sweetness. I don't mind Sweet at all, and I think she provides an interesting dynamic with her Sour.

And Apple. Oh boy. Apple is a different story.

First of all, she's not a baby anymore. Apple is all grown up and is a world famous adventurer. She's an expert in technology and can do all sorts of crazy things. But she's also a brat sometimes, and everyone else is just done with her. She has loads of screentime. She looks like a hipster. Her energy is out of control.

She's probably the best and worst character in the entire show.
