OK so here is my LTMP no 2 so far! I plan on it lasting around 7 minutes and I am still working on the ending I have a few other interviews I need to edit and consolidate down to the best ones. I am trying to still work on lengthening the transitions and deciding on where I can potentially add an audio clip of music somewhere. I would say my grade so far is a B since I have to add more clips and I still need to incorporate audio somehow. Enjoy my second rough draft!

Research--pictures on my phone Object 1: Lois Mailou Jones, June 13, 1995, Washington D.C., (gelatin silver print). Part of the exhibition by Terrence A. Reese entitled, “Reflections: Photographs of Iconic African Americans.” The tone of this piece demonstrates a feeling of tightness, closeness (clutter). This piece was extremely similar to how the living room looked in our house growing up, books and photographs everywhere--reminded me of my childhood days with Josie.
Object 2: The Beach, 1976, (oil on canvas). Part of the exhibition by Ando Keskkula entitled, “A Vibrant Field: Nature and Landscape In Soviet Nonconformist Art.” The tone is soothing as each color and texture blends smoothly into the next one. This piece made me think of the “Bud House” we used to rent out as a family every year for the entire summer in Long Beach Island.
Object 3: The Burning Bush, 1954, (woodcut in color). Part of the exhibition by Worden Day entitled, “Innovation and Abstraction: Women Artists and Atelier 17.” The tone is chaotic, looks as if the artwork could tell its own story. This piece reminds me of the Japanese art that was always hanging in our favorite Japanese restaurant that Josie and I would go to as infants up until we were teenagers.
Metaphor Lois Mailou Jones, June 13, 1995, Washington D.C., is a reenactment of mine and Josie’s childhood living room.
Explanation
The moment I saw this piece I honestly felt instantly transported back to the family living room at our house on North Avenue in Fanwood, growing up. My Dad is a photographer so there were always random framed pictures lounging around not having been hung up yet as well as a plethora of art books that he left out on display and to be read all the time. Josie and I did not have much appreciation for those things then, but now being a twenty-three year old, I can see the true value they held and how the chaotic living room that Josie and I so often inhabited is truly missed. I hate clutter more than anything, but this piece brought me back to a time when things were much simpler, when Josie and I starting building a lasting relationship as sisters and as best friends, most of our memories coming from a room looking just like this one.
The phrase “this made me think of you” is my favorite thing someone can ever say to me
