apofiss does amazing things with jewel tones. i’m a huge fan of his painting style =)

i use a lot of custom brushes in my paintings so I can get things done quickly, but it’s also important to know that you don't need fancy brushes to do really beautiful paintings !

Here’s a really basic tutorial for how I go about making simple/quick water reflections!

i’ve had so many ask me for tutorials on these kinds of things. I hope this helps!!

(7 - 9) this is the detailing/fixing up stage. i’m basically refining the shapes of the petals and adding in a few more to the empty spots (totally optional, depending on how full you want your flower). you can totally leave it as shown in 8, but for more intensity i sometimes duplicate the flower layer then set the top layer to overlay. making your lights lighter and darks darker will generally add a bit more dimension to your rose!

A tip for blending when painting digitally: use a transition color! I quickly made this when my brother asked for art advice while I was working on a painting for my best friend. (I was watching a lot of makeup videos to pick out her gifts). 

this is just a rough paint and it looks pretty cartoony, you can make the water far more realistic by making the edges neater (and by using reference, of course)
