Piroppo is a short series commissioned by Sony for the promotion of their robot dog Aibo. Apparently 54 slots of about 20 seconds each were made, but the dvd release totals 23 named episodes. Created by ISHII Katsuhito, director of Trava Fist Planet and several of the Grasshoppa live action projects, this is a highly original project despite the limited budget.
The police walk in and you’re wearing the one on the left. When they tell you he’s dead you gasp daintily, excuse yourself for a moment, then come back in the one on the right.

Transcription below:
Panel 1: Attention content creators.
Panel 2: Being part of a fandom can be very exciting and fulfilling, but also time-consuming and sometimes even a disappointing part of our day. And why is that?
As a fandom, there’s plenty of strangers working to please others by doing something they enjoy, like drawing fan art or writing fanfiction. We all communicate and share our ideas and talents FOR FREE, but big fandoms brings different people, personalities clash and sometimes it can end up in unnecessary harassment with the fact that you’re not even getting anything in exchange for your work on top of that. No one can keep doing what they enjoy forever with this approach.
Panel 3: I’m an artist myself, been creating for different fandoms for years and years now, mostly for free with exceptional attempt of commissions or Patreon. The problem with those art that to not be underpaid for your work, you have to charge an amount that most of us might not have, as we’re poor and struggling with steady income ourselves, or in Patreon’s case, it’s smaller amounts with a long time support and that, again, can be hard to manage for some of us.
And that’s only talking artists! What about our lovely writers that gives us heart-breaking stories and sends us on new adventures daily? How hard is it for them to earn something by doing what they love, by doing something WE love? Extremely hard.
Panel 4: So how do we deal with all of that?
Me and my best friend, who’s also a writer and a content creator, decide to come up with a alternative way to what Tumblr tries to be, but failed somewhere along the way.
Site works with ‘Chips’, a digital currency that you purchase with your money and put them into hands of those who you think deserve them - artists, writers, aesthetics or edits makers, musicians, vloggers. Yes, anyone can be given Chips if people enjoy their content and they don’t manually turn off chipping. The fact that you can chip only small amounts like a few cents doesn’t give you the idea of a big numbers that you can’t afford, and it helps the author anyway, it’s a win win! Think of it as tipping a kind waitress.
Panel 5: Creating public and private groups can save you the stress of bumping into someone who might not like what you do or how you think. It’s there for your comfort, you can share your works with only a circle of followers you know will enjoy it and you can also separate fandoms you make content for, saving you the struggle of creating ‘side blogs’ while still having your main dash and tag searching/tracking available to look for people. Think of it as something between twitter and discord.
Panel 6: Zero harassment tolerance: One of Tumblr’s biggest problems is in it’s approach to callout culture and hateful messages. The block and report buttons are given by default, once you block *puff* the person is gone, you won’t see any posts from them and they can’t contact you. Reporting will always be looked into if source of the problem is included, so there won’t be anything as reporting someone you just disagree with and them having problems.
Panel 7: I definitely didn’t mention everything and if there’s more questions, we have tumblr page opened for asks and are willing to answer as soon as possible: http://writscrib.tumblr.com.
Our team isn’t only me and my friend though. While I’m working on the visual side of things and my writer friend takes care of the Q&A and the licence and law matters, to help us make this work, we hired a programmer to set up the site as soon as possible.
With that being said, we need to help raise a fund to be able to paid said programmer, as couldn’t do it by our own - hence why we started an Indiegogo page. If you liked what you read, please support us and make something good happen for ll the fandom creators out there.

Thank you for the transcription! We’ll pass this version around in case people want to use the accessible version!
Heads up that they have recently stated that they wont stand up against racism or nazi’s if affects “artists integrity” so its best to not go for this project since they will actively give a platform to scum
This is the first I’ve heard of this whole thing but I’m also not sure about the legality of this? Does this not count as profiting off fanworks? Even if that isn’t a legal grey area in one jurisdiction, it’s likely to be one elsewhere. For instance, where I am, I’m like 100% sure that I would not be legally entitled to profit off someone else’s intellectual property, which afaik is pretty much what I’d be doing if I accepted money for writing stories based on someone else’s plots and characters. I don’t doubt that it would be an awkward case on both sides, but it’s not a lawsuit I’d want to invite.
Hello @noxfauna! That’s entirely untrue as we have a strict no-harassment policy that would not allow bigotry to flourish, but feel free not to use our site if you don’t want to!
Hello @xaritomene! Our site is based in the US, so we follow US law. We’re willing to take the risk, as receiving tips is not something that has a legal precedent (nor is there necessarily a legal precedent on profiting from transformative work, otherwise all commissions and many Patreon users would be breaking the law). We’ve discussed this issue in length, so if you check our copyright tag you can find a good deal of information on the subject! It is also possible to disable Chips on posts, or disable them overall if you don’t want to mess with it. Additionally, you could receive Chips through being directly sent them in order to avoid any direct affiliation with fanwork. I hope this answers your concerns!

It still surprises me at how few people have seen Freak of the Week, and I love sharing it with friends because of the inevitable, “How the hell have I never seen this?” look of awe drawn out on their face.
And man, it really is gorgeous.
Directed by Juanjo Guarnido, it took the team about a year of hard work to hammer out this bloody masterpiece (which you can learn about in his video here) using a combination of 3D animation with the power of college interns skill of a team of artists to painstakingly re-draw the 3D elements they wanted in 2D frame-by-frame, not to mention the post processing and… everything else.
Even though it came out in 2014, it doesn’t seem to have ever garnered the attention it truly deserves.
I really wanna drive this point home, so to give you an idea, Ghost by Mystery Skulls, animated by MysteryBen27 has 18,147,263 views. Freak of the Week has only 2,271,121 views at the time I’m writing this. That’s fucking depressing for something so … phenomenal. I want more of this, and hell, maybe you do too. But we’re not going to see anymore simply because the right people haven’t seen it. In fact, it failed to reach a respectable level of Internet Popularity®, Juanjo himself even described it in the comments section as having ruined him because of how little attention it got.
So if you’re reading this and you’ve got some connections with a TV network or something, consider pulling some strings to get this video spoon-fed to the masses, because people ought to see this. I’m sure Juanjo would be all too happy to oblige. And hell, if you wanna buy the art book, you can get the link here for about $50.
Now, maybe you recognize the former Disney animator Juanjo Guarnido for his other work: Blacksad.
Which is a comic set in the late 1950′s about a hardboiled private investigator published originally by Dark Horse Comics that does… y’know, the …
… noir investigator …
… aloof ladies man…
… badass …
… detective story thing.
That I haven’t yet read but I TOTALLY NEED TO.
Look,
I guess I’m bringing up Freak of the Week because I was reading the comment section and, man, it kinda got me down.
Some of the best things things out there just haven’t been seen by the right people, I guess. But I suppose it’s also a depressing statement on the culture of the internet that the video makes.
This is depressing. If you haven’t watched this video yet PLEASE do, I was in awe and fell instantly in love with it when I first saw it and just assumed something is fantastic and detailed would become an Internet hit …
Apparently not.
Well it should be, I hope this gets to the right people and the video gets the attention it rightfully deserves.
((This is indeed an awesome video. Passing it along…))
Forreal, guys, this is one of my favorite things. It’s like if Metalocalypse’s sound/#Aesthetic and Disney’s golden-age fluid, gorgeous animation had a baby, and that baby rocked your freakin’ face off.
I’ll keep shitposting until the day I die
when the story is just not working, but you keep writing anyway

Reminder that she actually wins that season, so keep your head up.
