After four years at the start-up Comworks, developing important projects for Santander such as its social network ‘Agora’, finally I decided moving to a big company.
I’m very glad to announce my new professional era at Everis.

Big Data exploration from grant program searches made in www.santander-grants.com and www.becas-santander.com. Pie chart shows most wanted countries for grant programs for the selected continent, country or region.
This information will be used for designing the incoming grant programs according the needs of the students.
Data set was obtained using MapReduce technique applied to the servers log, feeding value-added Business Intelligence apps such as the image above
BI prototype for Business Banking Video shows the voronoi diagram applied to Santander branches. Each cell is colored according the amount of companies in its area or the overall turnover volume.
Company dataset was provided by Santander Grants, a subset of enrolled companies in Spanish SME 2014 Grant Program.
'Ambition' is a fascinating word in engineering. Right now, is the new topic used by ESA to motivate to european citizens to support science and technology initiatives that will become a benefit for knowledge and industries.
Once I was like the young girl of the film, hearing that word from a master. I was in university, and the teacher was José Pérez Ríos. He hasn't faboulous powers to lift up rocks, he had only a chalk, a blackboard and word to summarize what makes the difference for new engineers: ambitions.
That word, written on the blackboard, was burned on my mind. And still burns me
Change of home address
Image above is extracted from a (work in progress) business inteligence solution focused on students and their transition to work. In this case, data visualized is provided by Santander Grants program.
As you can see, most of the spanish students and new graduates changes of domicile are in the south of Spain. Andalucía is by far the largest region where people under 30 are moving across the region looking for (first) job opportunities.

Transitions map
Transitions in grant and internship programs applied for are a key point for understanding student's life, and the more you know about your users or market target, the less assumptions you may have in any decission process, whether designing the bussines strategy or marketing new products.
Picture above is extracted from an interactive chord diagram, composed by the aggregation of each user enrolments (over 300K) in Santander Grants. I applied an analytical process for consecutive enrolment for each single user, composing a "transition map" or "enrolment routes".
Image above shows the relation between users group by age, and technology they use to apply for grant and internships programs at Santander Grants and Agora Santander.
These interactive diagram, integrated in a business inteligence strategy, will be very useful in next months for better understanding of users habits and market segmentation
Good news!
Increasing visits close to 70% up this year in a social platform project managed by us, close to 250,000 registered users.
Amazon Cloud technology made easy scalability and costs prediction
Let's put internet to work for me! :)
What is happening with EU?
This is the perspective that has left the "brilliant" Elop speech two years ago with the largest technology company in Europe. I'm reading on Ars Technica five cover stories about the NSA practices bypassing everything and everyone ... When will we react?

Goodbye mate
After 2 years and 6 months my laptop (HP ProBook) burned its graphics card... for the next days I'll be a MacBook user: it's a pretty world, with shinning lights, bright colors... yes, it's 'cute'
First prototype for the Indoor RTLS project!
BI+RTLS
In parallel to the MOOC project, finally first steps developing a prototype for a Bussines Inteligente product integrating Indoor RTLS (Real Time Locating System)
In the picture, our testing infrastucture on our headquaters
Very very cool project!
SOA 2.0
Designing overall architecture for a MOOC platform, applying SOA + EDA (Event Driven Architecture), using a Message Oriented Middleware.
Cool project!
Infrastructure as a Service
AWS made easy scalability tasks according the increasing web-site demand. It was no necessary a full-time maintenance team to keep up the site available with a 600+ concurrent users (according Google Analytics panel), just a few maintenance windows.

Little tricks, not so great solutions
Sometimes customers ask us high availability without a high impact on the cost of system operation and maintenance, which requires us to be imaginative.
One of the challenges to overcome in Amazon AWS is the use of files shared by more than one instance. In this specific case, the website is a CRM for consultation, and occasional intake data.
Mount a shared file system requires additional costs, both in EC2 as monitoring and maintanance, so we had to be imaginative.
The solution: AWS S3 storage combined with FUSE, S3FS, allows access from all EC2 intancias a virtual file system without having to instantiate file servers, and with all the advantages of S3 (high durability, high availability, encryption files, etc..).
The drawbacks that I discovered:
* it's necessary to estimate the cost of access to the filesystem
* S3FS has no effective mechanism to refresh the virtual filesystem mounted when another instance modifies the contents of the S3 bucket, forcing us to work intruducir cron sync every X minutes of each virtual filesystem
* S3FS hasn't compatibility with the AWS's native data descripion for folder/directory (epic fail!). You should use S3FS-C instead of S3FS.
Little tricks, great solutions
Sometimes the professional overzealous prevents us glimpse the most effective solutions. We get lost in a tangle of analysis and applied technologies, leading us to a chase in a increasingly complex maze. A few weeks ago, a major UK financial institution requested us an integration solution for it's university partner program, just to capture student data from enrollment process to feed an online portal for producing student's smart card. As you can imagine, each university is different. All of them are totally different. Different student management systems, different technologies applied, different access restrictions, different processes of admission and students and staff management ... Where is the border between pushing to reach the first milestone for the first university and compromise the project? Fortunately, a few days ago had been reviewing some aspects of AWS API. The solution was surprisingly simple in my mind: two-legged OAuth (over HTTPS). Once the user completes the online enrolment process, university’s website will redirect the student to the financial portal for generating student card, ensuring OAuth the accuracy of the information provided from the first portal. User data are traveling within the request, but are those just entering the user, thanks to OAuth signature ensures that the user has not altered. Completely seamless and immediate implementation in almost every university platforms, it's just construct a link!
