Super long overdue college update
Okay so I keep putting off updating on Tumblr but here is what has happened so far:
-Made a lot of new friends and I love them all
-Shake Your AASA was crazy
-Freefest was so much fun except for after it poured during Madeon in the Dance Forest like that was miserable but it was fun in the moment
-I want to go shopping so bad but the tax here is annoying
-Going back to NYC during homecoming weekend :x
-I've been exercising/practicing piano so I feel somewhat accomplished
-Got onto the AASA political awareness committee sub-board so I'm glad
-Trying to do Model UN and it seems somewhat intimidating but it's kind of like a challenge so I hope I get better
YEP everything is crazy and so fast paced and I keep falling asleep during class whoops
My reflection assignment over the summer
Basically the prompt was to pretend it's May 2014 and to reflect on my first year at Georgetown. Naturally I can't do anything normally so I write this:
I can’t believe it’s May already. It seems as if it were only yesterday that I lugged the essentials of my life back in New York into my dorm. Perhaps it was two days ago that I pre-registered for classes (by pre-registered I mean guessed around). Actually, wasn’t it only last week that I even got accepted into Georgetown?
Well, a full nine months have passed and I’m finally done with my freshman year of college. The transition wasn’t as tough as I’d expected it to be, but it was still a bit daunting to leave most of my friends and all of my family behind to go to a place that isn’t New York City. I felt as if I were throwing security and familiarity to the wind; it was like a new adventure, really. One of those bildungsroman-type adventures where you realize who you are at the end of your ordeals, except my only real ordeals were waking up for Chinese class and figuring out how to use the laundry room.
I found that Georgetown was a welcoming community. Right off the bat, I joined FOCI, which helped me gain steady footing in the beginning months of college. I was able to join a few clubs as well, which was enjoyable and gave me something to do when I wasn’t cramming for a test. However, the biggest commitment I made was joining Georgetown’s secret society of *****. I can’t actually type out the name of the secret society or what it’s about since it’s a secret, but I figure that a reflection is a place for honesty. I’d be lying if I didn’t mention the countless hours I’ve dedicated to this organization whose purpose I cannot divulge.
It all started when I was taking a stroll past the Exorcist Stairs. I took pause when I noticed something etched onto a brick. Upon further inspection, I realized that it must be a symbol. I rushed to the library and spent hours poring through books and resources, paying particular attention to the tomes of medieval history and magic. Eventually, I stumbled upon the symbol and its organization, *****. I googled ***** and of course found their Wikipedia and Twitter pages; not surprising, since every respectable organization has to have its own Wikipedia and Twitter page. Surprisingly, a chapter of ***** was located in none other but my own university. I asked around and was able to attend the first meeting of the year.
That fateful night has changed my life in a few ways, but essentially I am the same person as when I first stepped onto campus. I still have bad procrastination habits, I walk too fast, and I juggle too many activities. The only major change is my newfound fear of sunlight and my sartorial inclination toward dark robes and moonstones. My first year at Georgetown has been exciting and eventful; I’m certainly looking forward to the next three years on the hilltop.
Once you get this, you must tell five random facts about yourself and then pass it on to ten different followers. #sorrynotsorry
Excellent, so:
1) Sometimes I imagine myself tripping and falling and getting into terrible accidents and then I cringe and make a face and it looks dumb because there's absolutely no context to my screwed-up face
2) I love Breaking Bad
3) I measure the cost of something by comparing it to how many bagels I could buy at the same cost
4) I wrote an essay about the bagel thing for a scholarship once. Needless to say, I didn't get the scholarship
5) I had Costco samples for lunch today
Gonna ignore the part about passing it onto ten followers because I'm lazy, look there's another fact
332. Nikita, MYLC Dinner [7/27/13]
So today I met up with Nikita in the city; we went to this place on 55th and 7th I think called Radiance Tea and Books; ingot a dumpling sampler with soup pork bun and chicken tree ear dumplings and a lychee green tea, all of which were good. We caught up a bunch; he told me of his adventures in Taiwan and how his friend got him into all the high class clubs for free. And how all the food there is super good and cheap.
Then we went outside and walked toward Columbus Circle. Went into the Apple Store for the first time and I can honestly say it was dumb because it was just a normal Apple Store but with a glass staircase and 3x more people. Then we went into FAO Schwartz and marveled at the expensive toys and Legos and paintings. Saw a toy alligator for $800 and nothing beat it tip we saw an Alice in Wonderland painting for $1000. Later we found a giant stuffed panda for $1300 so that took the cake. We also saw an awesome Lego Death Star for $400….woulda been fun to build.
After that we walked through Central Park a bit and then went back to the apple store to find Peter. Haven’t seen that fool in a year. We sat at a fountain and chatted. Mostly about chest hair. Peter asked me if I preferred chest hair on men…then I asked Nikita if he liked chest hair on women. If it was a centimeter thick that is. Also talked about Eugene and him being a prostitute. By the way like 5 weddings were taking place wtf.
We then met with Nikita’s Taiwanese friends. They were pretty chill. Walked around with them for a bit and then left for the MYLC get together. It ended up being at TGI Fridays. Everything was paid for by the company card which was nice. I got a mango peach lemonade, chicken and cheese, and a salted caramel cake. Pretty yummy. We talked a lot about various things; teased Felix for his fancy pronunciation of “Cajun" and the tale of Ayo needing to see two NYC condoms. I spoke of Georgetown to Ayo a bunch too. Oh and we kept referring to Gigi as Jesus cus that’s what it sounded like when Jose said her name.
All in all it was a great time and I caught the ferry and went home and watched more Breaking Bad.

328. Last day of classes in high school [6-25-13]
What the heck?
Anyway I woke up at 8:45, ate my breakfast (which was rice and beef; I instagrammed a video of the food disappearing cus I'm a loser), caught the bus, got to school at 10:20ish? The machine marked me as "on time" LOL.
Went to lunch; people were there! I chilled with Julie/Lyanne/Jimmy/Clifford/Melodie/Milton. Then I returned Wuthering Heights and played Igra; my row was Subhani/Aroona/Keerti/Milton. We won! :D I was so happy that we won because it was the last igra of my high school career. I also actually knew the songs in the songs category for once LOL. There was "These Lazy Hazy Crazy Days of Summer" by Nat King Cole and "Saturdays in the Park" by Chicago. Woaohahahoahah.
Then I went with David down to 6th pd lunch to try to find Dong; instead we talked to Fink for 1.5 hours LOL. Til 8th pd. Gradually, Alex/Dong/Rey/Neriel came by. Fink gave us valuable life advice about careers and how unpredictable life can be and such. We also talked about strange sports injuries and her path from law to teaching in Taiwan.
We then went to Fusaro's room and chilled a bit; had a slice of sicilian pizza which was nice. Then we went upstairs. Got a bunch of teachers to sign my yearbook and chatted with them which was lovely. At the end we all went to Murphy's and talked to her about her engagement ring and stuff LOL.
Alex had left by then to somewhere, I dunno. We went to BK at David's insistence since it had free refills. I got a soft serve ice cream for 54 cents which was pretty nice and the lady made mine super tall. It was yummy. I wrote in Neriel's yearbook finally. Stole David's spot teehee.
Then we went to see Monsters University. Dong had to go to the bank, boo on him. Anyway the movie was good; Keith and Andrew joined us. There was a short at the beginning called "Blue Umbrella" or something and it was hella cute. The actual movie MU was great too...predictive of things to come in college. Aha...
Took the bus home with David and Keith. It was my last walk home with David which was very very sad. :'( TOODLE LOO.
Quickly threw on my blue blazer and quickly did eyeliner and went to Esca for the senior YB/SO/NHS dinner. It was nice; sat with Manzo/Janelle/JJ/Ira. We chatted a lot about Murphy's class (lol) and BC Calc. It was entertaining. Fusaro had some crazy stories from her youth, like some random guy who said she looked like she had lots of hairspray in her hair and held up a lighter so she went "BLEARGHHHH" since her dad said if people look crazy just seem crazier.
Regarding the food: it was good but SO RICH. There was yummy bread with olive oil/butter, eggplant, fried mozzerella things, calamari, salad (did not eat, had walnuts), steak, mashed potatoes, and desserts. I liked the cheesecake a lot. Also had tea which woke me up...I'm still awake from it actually.
Went home and did mostly nothing, it was great. Read some more yearbook signatures and it was really strange how many people said I was funny LOL. Now I gotta werk grrr.
feel so alone yet everyone's there
I feel so sorry for my poor poor legs
Today's the longest day of the year
I'm graduating today.
What the heck.
It's been four long years now that I think about it, it hasn't been too quick. But it's surprising that I've made it this far. I'm gonna graduate and go to college, isn't that strange? I've been thinking about this moment for a very very long time, ever since I was little, and now it's within a few hours.
I feel like I have to really live in the moment this summer because I'm really not going to do anything volunteer-y I think, I'm just gonna chill out. It's the summer before college so I really have to make it count and have as much fun as I possibly can at home. And then college is supposed to be the best four years of my life which is really strange if I think about it because that means it's all downhill from there. So I guess I'd better make the most of that, too. Those four years will probably slip away very quickly as well. Argh, everything is really strange.
Ugh it's so good, why didn't they play this live

Composing songs on my guitar at 1:30AM in the morning...this is what life has come to
I really don't feel like I'm done with high school yet, I mean even though I finished my last day of classes there's still awards night/prom/graduation/those random two days of school/picking up my diploma...right? I think?
Anyway thinking about all of this and looking through the yearbook again and reading some of the things people have written (I only read some...saving some of them for later of course) makes me so sad because I don't feel ready to leave. I feel like if I could have one more month I'd take it even though last month I was saying I was so done with this school blah blah blah but no this is like Stockholm Syndrome and it's terrible.
These horrible feelings plus me not doing anything productive plus a headache are really making me unhappy tonight ugh
