A day in the life…
⬆️ The first breakfast baba of the day I mention below. Laying on daddy’s chest to start off the day…
One of the most recurring questions I get on this blog is: What does a full day in your life look like? What does little one do during the day? Is daddy home all the time? Does kiddo get any break during the day?
I had written a post last year about how routine made AB/DL work. At least for us. Like a lot of posts, you may have missed it because our blog got banned, but no worries, there have been a few changes since then, and I will explain everything below. If you have been wondering what happens in a typical day for my little boy, my partner or me, just keep reading…
Before I start, I would like to remind everyone that this is based on our life and our dynamic. There is no rule or model to live an AB/DL life and you can live it however you want to. Everything below may not be adapted to you, but this can serve as inspiration for others. Feel free to also comment any suggestions or ideas you may have, or simply share how you live your AB/DL life!
As a Daddy, one thing I have learned over the years is that AB/DL requires a strict schedule. If you are willing to fully commit, your days are inevitably reshaped and a routine is needed to go through feeding, changing, dressing up, baths and much more. As you can imagine, living like this for a weekend is very fun, but when it’s been going on for almost 30 months, there needs to be a structure.
Without a routine, I would probably have struggled managing work + taking care of my little one. With one, I was able to do it perfectly fine and still enjoy some quiet time in the evening to relax.
I know some of you enjoy those “daddy tips” I post as you might someday be in a position to have a little of your own, or you are simply curious and interested ! Below is how our routine works, so maybe it can inspire your own. Make sure to like and reblog, those posts take a long time to write and it keeps me going!
A quick summary for those of you who don’t feel like reading a post for 10 minutes.
A day in the life of my little pamperpacker contains:
- 4 babas (including one of formula)
- 3 or 4 changes
- 1 bath a day
- Several hours in his playpen
- At least 6 hours wearing a bib
- Yummy numnums and dindins lovingly spoonfed by Papa or Daddy…
- …And a lot of daily fun with Papa and Daddy!
For those who have been asking, our little one does get access to his phone when he’s in his playpen. There’s no parental control on his phone, but my partner and I have full access to his phone. We particularly enjoy when he’s on Tumblr scrolling through AB/DL content or talking to some of you guys as it never fails to make him a bit excited in his paddings and it is extremely cute to see him wriggle and try to get any kind of release through his cage and very thick Pamps. Daddies gotta have their fun…🤷🏻♂️
Our babyboy generally does not watch or read any content aimed towards an adult audience. It wouldn’t really fit his mindset. Occasionally, we will watch a movie with him that’s not too babyish, but he has to be a very very good boy for this.
Typical day
(weekdays or weekends are very similar)
7:00: Daddy and Papa wake up and check on monitor -
Alone time to get ready for the day, including morning run, shower and breakfast.
8:15: Daddy/Papa is ready and wakes Kiddo up.
First Pamp check of the day. Generally no change before breakfast no matter if soggy or messy except if already leaked.
8:20 : Breakfast for Kiddo
First baba of the day 🍼: Hot chocolate or regular milk only + a jar of fruit baby food spoon fed by Daddy or Papa.
8:30: First Pamp change + dressing up.
Most likely outfits: Onesie + dungarees in the summer & onesie + pajamas in the winter. A bib is always worn from that time until lunch time.
8:45: Kiddo goes and brushes his teeth on his own (now you understand why he’s wearing a bib already) and washes his face.
09:00: Daddy leaves for work and Papa works from home, or vice versa.
Babyboy used to have some time alone at home when Papa hadn’t joined our family, but it doesn’t happen as often now.
From 09:00 to 11:45: Kiddo is in his playpen, plays with his toys, watches cartoons.
Daddy/Papa regularly checks on him. He’s usually soggy by around 10:30, but no change in the morning.
11:45: Lunch (or "numnums") time.
Can be babyfood or mashed "big boy food" depending on days. Spoonfed by Daddy/Papa most of the time. Morning bib is supposed to be soggy from drool and is changed to food bib.
12:30: Done with Kiddo’s lunch, but usually stays a bit with Papa/Daddy when it is time for him to have his lunch.
Depending on his Pamps, there may be a change after lunch. It is all about checking if it can hold any more, or not.
12:45: Second baba of the day🍼: Regular milk.
From 13:00 to 15:00 (length can vary): naptime for Kiddo.
He doesn’t necessarily sleep the entire time, but it gives him some time to cuddle his plushies and rest a bit after a tough morning in the playpen! (Well, the main reason we make it at least two hours long is because it gives Daddy/Papa some time to work with no noise around, but don’t tell him I said that, or I will have a cranky boy around nap time😉)
15:00: Second or third change once Kiddo is up from his nap.
This one is the most likely to be the messy change of the day. It happens mostly during his naps, which Daddy/Papa can always hear and see on the monitor. Makes for very happy and proud daddies!
15:15 to 17:30: More time in playpen + third baba of the day🍼: regular milk.
Generally more crafty activities like drawing, painting, sticker books, flower pressing, etc. If an activity is too dangerous i.e. requires the use of scissors, Daddy/Papa must be in the room.
17:30: by that time, Daddy or Papa who was at work is back home and generally takes the lead to spend some time with babyboy.
17:45: Third or fourth diaper change & Bath time.
That’s the time of day the chastity cage may be removed for cleaning and put back on.
18:15: Dress up for the night.
Onesie of pajamas depending on the season and the thickest padding of the day. Either a double pamp, or a regular one with a booster. It is the last change until the next morning no matter what.
18:30 : Dinner time for Kiddo (or called "dindins").
Can also be babyfood or mashed "big boy food", even though evening meals tend to always include babyfood nowadays, whether only partially or completely depends on Daddy and Papa. Always spoonfed by daddy or papa.
19:00 : Playtime, TV or video game time
Next to Daddy and Papa who are having their dinner. This is the time Kiddo can play a bit of Switch if he wants to. He’s particularly a fan of "Bluey, the videogame", "Paw Patrol: World Adventure" and of a few "Mario" games if we’re playing all together which can happen from time to time. This also includes, just before bed, the fourth baba of the day🍼: formula.
19:45: Kiddo gets ready for bed.
20:00: 💤 Bedtime! 💤 Kiddo is tucked away in his crib. (21:30 during the weekend)
Daddy and/or papa read him a quick story and spend some more time with him until 20:15 or 20:30. Monitor music is turned on and all lights are off. Pacifier is in, a few Pamp rubs over his pajamas to make sure his little locked parts are all happy to get a good night of sleep and off we go.
From 20:30: Alone time until bedtime for Daddy and Papa.
You will see that this routine matches perfectly the Diaper Chart I shared with you all a few months ago on our previous blog. It gives a chance to our little guy to earn his weekly points if he behaves like a good boy. Once again, it’s all about creating a frame that works for you.
PS. : Nothing is set in stone in this routine, but 90% of the days follow this pattern.
