Fucking ghouls and synths since 2287

doing yet another rewatch of TWD so I might just sporadically post my thoughts about it, so here's one: it still absolutely floors me (in s2ep1) that right after the herd has passed and they're already missing a child (SopHIA) they're just allowing an 8 year old Carl to wander through the cars completely unsupervised, stick his hands in vehicles blindly etc, when he finally shows up with that arsenal he found (and was very lucky to get without being attacked, that body looked walkable imo lol) neither Lori nor Shane even asked after where or how he got them, not a word about him wandering around instead of staying in one place with an adult- and as a matter of fact they send him off alone back to Dale just after so they can have a lover's quarrel!!! Do they just not give a shit about him at all lmaooo?? What I also find a WILD choice is that they didn't have the kids wait in the RV while the adults scavenged in the first place, they just kinda let Sophia and Carl meander around them on the highway like it's a mcdonald's playplace or some shit lol, had they both been in the RV (WITH THE DOOR CLOSED BC WHY ON EARTH WASN'T IT TO BEGIN WITH, ANDREA) when the herd passed through Sophia would have never gone missing in the first place???? hello?????? like I'm sure the kids were begging to get out and play/wander or whatever, but that's when a responsible guardian tells them this isn't a safe place to do that and that they need to go wait somewhere that is for the time being, play a boardgame or draw or whatever (but then we wouldn't have had any conflict I KNOW)
