We don't choose where we begin, what happens to us, whom we meet, whom we lose, or what life takes away. Maybe that's what we call destiny. But destiny doesn't mean the whole book is already written.
What happened to us is real. It may have changed us, hurt us, even shaped us. But it doesn't have to keep writing our story. We often hear, “Turn the page and move on.”... And maybe that's exactly what we need to do but not because the next chapter is already written for us...
We turn the page because the old one is over. The next page is still blank. We don't have to keep rereading the past; replaying conversations, questioning our choices, wishing things had happened differently, or searching for an ending we cannot change... There is no need to keep looking backward...
There is only this moment... An empty space. A blank page. And the pen is still in your hand... That doesn't mean you can write whatever you want. Life will still interrupt. Some pages will be painful. Some endings will come without your permission. But you can choose how you respond...
You can stop repeating what hurt you. You can change direction. You can leave some things unfinished. You can begin again. You can become someone your past never imagined... Maybe that's where destiny and free will meet...
Life gives you some of the pages. But it doesn't get to hold your pen forever... So when someone tells you to “turn the page,” remember: They're not telling you that the next chapter is already written. They're reminding you that the old chapter doesn't have to be read forever. Turn the page. Then write...
