Stop what you're doing and do a quick google search of your name + your town, state (ex: John Doe Seattle, Washington) and see what comes up. Do a little digging. Try old names and towns/states.

Does your full name, address, phone numbers, or employer come up on one of those "background check" or "phone book" websites?

You can request the listing be removed! Most of those sites have an opt out form, sometimes under the "don't sell my data" tab. Regardless of the website, you can search "opt out [website]" and should find a guide on how to remove the listing of yourself. They profit from keeping our data public, so some sites are harder than others, but persist!

You do NOT need to pay a third party company, like Aura, to do this. Paying those companies is quicker, sure, but you're still paying a company.
