Isnāt so weird how sometimes we connect by disconnecting. Isnāt ironic how the way we learn how to do certain things in our life shape who we are today. Iāve learned Ā a lot on my own. But one thing is for certain, if there is a time I want to disconnect to reconnect,Ā I'll probably will be making art or reading.

Highly agree with this ! Although I love reading on my free time, I also really enjoy social media. When I do have time to go on social media I usually use it To my advantage. I usually pick or follow the things I read on social media. When I want to find out about something I search about it and read it. I also spend time on YouTube to also āself educateā myself on things as well. I believe social media can be a great tool depending on perspective and what your intention with it is. For instance, I look up how to paint or understand a word better. I learn from others on YouTube! Communication and connection is literally all around us.If anything I feel as though in this āworld of algorithmsā itās giving me more of an opportunity to connect with my very own self.
So I donāt think what my mother said was completely correct. I donāt believe I was self educated completely but I definitely did teach myself a lot when I was younger. I had the help of books with audio to help me learn new words (shoutout to leapfrog). Just like I did with books, I find myself learning about art and creating on my own as well. I learned how to do a lot of techniques on my own so it does all connect together. Just because art is my passion now does not mean I don't like to reconnect with my inner child and not read. I love reading.I read when Iām all comfy and ready to just relax.Ā

Readable Bilingual Culture is reading and going, āHaha! I have a secret code!ā But when you hear the language, āI have no knowledge of what you are doing.ā
I believe that confidence that I was talking about in my last post stemmed from the fact that I read in not only English but in Spanish. In kindergarten I read pretty fluently and faster than the other kids. Having that head start made me more comfortable with reading and writing. I also felt so powerful being able to read in another language. Itās like only I knew what wasĀ going on. Only I couldĀ understand this way.Ā
Just like my art, my writing itself is misinterpreted. According to my mother, when I was younger IĀ āwrote kind of messy.ā Now that I do think about it I did write really sloppy as child(still kind of do). But I guess since I knew what I was writing about and I still was writing down what I needed to, it didn't really matter to me if my penmanship was great. As long as I knew that was enough for me. I guess I feel the same way with my art. Maybe understanding it myself is just enough for me.Ā
I find myself making a lot more art than usual these days. Itās quite ironic to think that I make art to express myself but realize the way that I create is not always understood. I essentially am communicating through my work. Not everyone truly understands what exactly Iām trying to convey.Maybe I do find it amusing to see how others interpret my work. Maybe I donāt really want them to get it? So what is that about Devanee? Letās try to figure this out.
