I'm so mad I didn't see this one despite getting the right time. Yet another case where Toby Fox has a Secret Thing that actively makes the story worse if you get it. ("Frisk" playthrough, No Mercy Route, Weird Route, the SWORD route overriding Tenna's hardest line "Who do you think taught you to laugh and cry? What? You think it's my fault you forgot how?")

I feel like Starwalker is almost a punishment for trying to get everything, since it screws up so many scenes for a gag that quickly gets irritating, like the Scrappy Doo of Deltarune. (Toby Fox has an excellent sense of atmosphere and humour, so it would be funny if it were meant to be).

This Original Star Walker is really pissing me off

With that in mind, I'm wondering if getting the eggs is actually good for you. We still don't really have the payoff for them.

"Dogwhistles" are called that based on real "dog whistles", many of which are pitched too high to be audible to most humans, but are still perfectly audible to dogs.

Rhetorical dogwhistles are things that most people would not be able to identify as bigoted because they're INTENDED to have plausible deniability.

The wording changes are meant to be subtle enough that people really can mix them up accidentally when they don't have much information!

So when the gender critical movement calls trans women "transwomen", they're hoping for 2 things.

this usage will spread enough among people who don't know any better, to give transphobes the plausible deniability of not LOOKING like a frothing bigot constantly.

the usage grammatically places trans women in a different category than other women; it's changing "trans" from an adjective to part of a noun to make this distinction.

The more we can avoid this usage, the less deniability have transmisogynists have when using it, and the less rhetorical ground we cede to the degendering and misgendering of trans women.

I don't actually think ceding this ground is LESS divisive than pointing it out politely.

Chapter 5 Crafted Equipment

DogWidow just seems to give +6 Defence (only 1 more than the GoldWidow) and -90% money. Defence is very good but not so good that it's worth sacrificing both almost all money gained and the GoldWidow's +1 Atk and +1 Magic.

MonarchRBN gives +6 Defence and +2 Magic, in contrast to the PrincessRBN's +4 Defence and +2 Attack. Defence is the most important stat, but whether magic or attack is better can Depend. But on top of that, it gives +Healing. So I think it's overall a significant improvement.

TrueTie is a TennaTie with an additional +1 Attack and resistance to Puppetcat. Especially considering Seam hints that the Mannequin is still useful...I think we're about to fight a certain recurring kittycat. If so, this is going to be crazy good.

Just learned today that using ACTs on the spawns is treated differently than just killing them - the latter means You Get Stronger. I thought that was mandatory, since you're told they're mindless and they seem pretty destroyed either way. But if you clear them with ACTing, you don't Get Stronger and instead of "Slain: 2" you get "Purified: 2." I'm a little unnerved knowing that difference is tracked, and only one of these explicitly "slays" them, something otherwise not even on the table by chapter 4 except the Snowgrave route.

I made sure to purify them this time around. I'm not even sure that's the right answer, but I trust it more.

To be clear, this isn't a bit. This is what they actually did. "Its too late" is the new "Climate change isn't real"... And its still a lie!

Every serious climate scientist agrees that there is no such as thing as too late, just as there is no such thing as too early. We should have done a lot more than we have to fight climate change, and the world will suffer for our inaction, but there is no point of no return. We can always work to reduce the amount of suffering that occurs, and eventually turn things around to the point where our planet is healing once again. Do not believe anyone who says it's "too late".
