Year in Review – 2024 Fics
I’m pleased I was able to write as much as I did this year. I went on vacation twice (and didn’t do any writing) and spent a good chunk of the year applying for jobs and grad school.
I’ll be starting grad school at the end of January, so I’m not sure how much non-academic writing I’ll be doing, but I signed up for a rare pair event, so I’ll be posting that.
slantwise, streetwise, in the disguise (OP, T, 15.2K)
Summary: In the fall of 2071, Monkey D. Luffy and the crew of his spaceship, the Going Merry, land on Mars. Soon after their arrival, Nami witnesses an explosion. The culprit has a bounty of 300 million berries and he's wanted alive. And while out searching for clues, Sanji meets the mysterious Nico Robin. Who is she and what does she know?
Time is running out; the Straw Hat Pirates have until Halloween to claim their reward. Will they succeed? And what else will they learn?
(Loosely based on the plot of Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' on Heaven's Door.)

Playing hide and seek with stars (OP, T, 6.9K)
Summary: Sanji and the rest of the Straw Hats make their way to Dressrosa after Sanji learns he and his sister have targets on their backs. Who's targeting them and why? And what does this have to do with the conspiracy they've uncovered?
Also, how will this impact Sanji and Zoro's developing relationship?

Summary: Upon arriving in Zou, Luffy, Zoro, and the rest of the crew learn that Sanji is missing.
“He wrote us a note,” said Nami. “And handed it to me as he pushed us out.”

Summary: Zoro and Luffy end up hiding in a closet, trying to stay quiet and not get caught, and Zoro thinks back on their time together.

Summary: Sanji didn’t know what to say to that.
Ace turned to face him. “You’re overthinking it,” he said.

“That’s rich, coming from you,” said Tony. “You suspect he’s here; I gathered as much. That’s why you put together this team and why you’re tight-lipped about what’s inside that base,” he said.
“I’ll admit, it’s a smart plan. At best, he’s here. At worst, we’ve learned the ins and outs of a Hydra base and hopefully, the location of another.”
She looked up and met his eyes. “And what if I think he’s here?”
“That depends, which rumors?"

Summary: “Dean doesn’t drink wine,” said Castiel.
“I didn’t ask him,” said Rowena.
She turned towards Dean. He was standing in the corner, arms crossed, trying to blend into the scenery. It was evident he didn’t want to be here. He didn’t want to be in Hell, he didn’t want to be before Rowena – newly crowned Queen of Hell. And most of all, he didn’t want to be having this conversation with Castiel.
