Can we stop calling all Germans Nazis? It’s been like 80 years. Seriously it’s like if other countries were still calling us slave owners. I’m not saying we should forget about the Holocaust, just like we shouldn’t forget any tragedy in our planet’s history, but how can we expect Germany to move forward if we keep acting like we’re still actually in the 1940s.

The Holocaust should be remembered as “A lot of innocent people suffered and lost their lives, let’s make sure this doesn’t happen again” not “Look at how horrible Germany is!! They’re just waiting to strike again!” Because yes, the Holocaust was terrible, but Germany isn’t the only country that’s done terrible things.

So basically, theres about as many MS-13 members in the US as Nazis.

The US has more than 4X the population of Germany and while Germany banned the swastika, Nazis still very much exist there

Maybe it's a cultural thing. To all the Europeans reading this: if you jokingly insult an American, they're probably going to jokingly insult you back. That doesn't mean we "can't take a joke." That's *how* we take a joke.

The media that to this very day still refuses to report charlottesville and the cause of the car crash correctly?

The media that called a teenager a nazi for standing still with a nervous smile as some asshole banged a drum in his face?

1) there was a sign encouraging you not to swipe or get glue on your card and that

2) the emergency exit door was open so you could either walk onto the platform or hop the turnstile to still access the train

The protesters left you with a choice: become a fare evader (supporting the protest) or leave. But they didn't stop access to the subway as a utility.

I see a lot of outrage in the comments about inconveniencing people on their commute home but consider whose commute under "normal" circumstances -- under police surveillance -- are inconvenienced by police.

Are you upset because you're not someone who usually has to think about if you'll be singled out for doing the same thing as everyone else?

Did the protests make you experience the thing that, oh, they were protesting against?

And if you don't like it, well, the next subway stop is 5 blocks away. How convenient for you that this impediment was a one day, one stop friction in your life and not a constant threat.

Now you're right, subways cost money to run, and the fares are there for a reason. But what people are really protesting here is what the MTA did in response to the fare jumpers.

They hired cops to literally just...stand around and watch the stiles, costing the city MORE money than if they just reversed the fare hike. New Yorkers are furious because there's clearly money to pay for these extra cops, but apparently not for maintaining the trains.

So per day, the fair increase is about 37¢.

Prior to this last increase, it went from $2 in 2010 to $2.25 in 2013, then $2.50 in 2015. In 2015, the 7-day pass was $31 and the 30-day was $116.50. So from 2015, including the 5% bonus, the daily price increase has been 51¢.

Such as normally occurs during the Easter long weekend....

Live action or cartoon, people only seem to care about certain race actors losing out on job opportunities when the actor taking the job is white. Otherwise there is typically silence and indifference.

Phil Lamarr is black. He practiced a Japanese voice and played a Japanese character.

Fresh off the boat dad (i dont know his name and dont care enough to look it up, but he’s up there) being Chinese is important to the story. But the actor not being Chinese doesnt change anything. He studies the culture and possibly the accent and acts from there.

And let’s not forget the Fullmetal Alchemist live action movie, which despite having bilingual european actors falling over themselves to play those parts, was played basically completely by a Japanese cast. Same with Black Butler and Shingeki no Kyojin (where asian characters being rare was very specific to the story). No one had a problem with this or made the argument that asians were jncapable of playing europeans. No one insisted that they needed to hire bilingual europeans/white people.

In the animated film she was played by a Korean….

But I suppose we’re meant to ignore that this is all in response to a satire account.

This is capitalism's vast irrationality and inhumanity in action. Markets and The Economy™ matter more to capitalism than the concrete distribution of resources according to tangible human need.

Resources exist in abundance -- give them to people. Housing sits empty -- give it to people. The rules of the feast table should apply to our economic system -- no one gets seconds until everyone has gotten a plate.
