La Paz is an original oil painting I created in 2020 featuring colorful quail, bull skulls and prickly pear cactus. Inspired by otomi folk art and southwestern art. A few years ago I created this painting in #gouache of a little bird on blue prickly pear cactus. I then turned this painting into a fun sparkly wall decor while experimenting with resin. Should I bring him back as a print ?!
Palm Springs boho cowgirl. I painted this originally in 2020 on wood panel which I don't usually use. I like how it turned out - experimenting with the blue shadows was fun and influenced by California impressionists like Wayne Theibaud who's colorful desserts often had blue shadows. Did you know that we named our studio after the palms native to our Southern California deserts such as the ones found in Coachella? Washingtonia flifera, aka the California Palm aka desert fan palm, pictured here is the only palm native to California. The palm trees sprout up in the ravines and oasis where the trees draw water from natural springs. Hence where cities Palm Springs and Palm Desert got their names!
